Students will increase their service learning project engagement from 77% to 90% by May 2025.
Dear Sixth Grade Families,
In an effort to promote good health, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has developed a Health Code which requires proof of a physical examination by the end of grade 6.
In addition, please be aware that there are additional immunization requirements for entry into the seventh grade.
Immunization Requirements for Grades 7-12
1 dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis - given as Adacel or Boostrix) prior to 1st day of 7th grade
1 dose of Meningitis vaccine (MCV4) prior to 1st day of 7th grade, second dose prior to 1st day of 12th grade
Due to Pennsylvania Department of Health and Allegheny County Health Department Regulations, parents must provide proof that their child has received these vaccinations, proof that they are planning to have the vaccinations administered from a private medical care provider, or a signed exemption form PRIOR to the start of the school year. Students who do not have documentation of these vaccines WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO START SCHOOL IN THE FALL.
Please bring, send or fax a copy of the immunization records to the school as soon as possible. Our goal is to get all students up to date so that entry into the 2025-2026 school year is not delayed. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions regarding the immunization records, please call the nurse’s office.
Thank you.

May was a whirlwind of a month! First, the Character Committee exceeded our annual goal for the year!!!!! Our student body engagement in a service learning project increased from 77% to 100%! Every student enrolled at PHCSE participated in a grade-level service project this year! Our school sent cards to veterans and children in need, donated to the Ronald McDonald House, and educated our community on health topics, just to name a few of the projects! Excellent work PHCSE!!!!
The Equity Committee was honored at this year's Engaging Pittsburgh Awards hosted by PHRA, where we won the "teams award" that celebrated our Equity Team's abilty to work with integrity, ingenuity, and creativity to better our community! Congratulations to all members of the Equity Team for your continued efforts in making PHCSE a wonderful place to learn and grow!
