Counters or something to mark spots
Number cards (you can use cards from a normal deck and just use the numbers 1 - 10)
Sheet protectors (so you can make the game reusable)
Dry erase markers (these are the ones we use in school)
Stage 2
Skills Practiced:
Stage 1: Counting on from a number other than 0 or 1
Stage 2: Counting on by 10s
Decide who goes first
First person writes the next 1, 2, or 3 numbers in order
Second player writes the next 1, 2, or 3 numbers in order from where first player left off
Continue until someone writes the last number
Whoever writes the last number wins!
Skills Practiced:
Stage 1: Adding 1 or 2
Stage 2: Subtracting 1 or 2
Stage 4: Adding or subtracting 10
Stage 1 and 2
Stage 4
Roll dice (or if using number cards, pull a card)
Decide if you want to add or subtract
Place a counter on your sum or difference
The winner connects 5 in a row!
Stage 1 and 2

Stage 1: Addition 0-10
Stage 2: Subtraction 0-10
Stage 3: Multiples of 10
Students roll two dice (or pull two number cards)
Student adds the numbers together or subtracts one from the other
check off the sum or difference you found and write the expression!
Skills Practiced:
Stage 1: adding single digits (up to 12)
Stage 1
Find something to use as your "race piece" (in class, we use little bears)
Players each choose three numbers to "bet" on (put your race piece on those numbers)
Then players take turns rolling two dice. Add the two numbers together. Move the race piece on that sum one square
The person whose race piece crosses the "finish" line first wins.
Skills Practiced:
Stage 1: Finding "friends of ten" (pairs of numbers that make 10)
Stage 2: Finding groups of numbers that have a sum of 10 (ex. 3 + 2 + 5)
Place the tokens sea creature side up on the table (you can choose how many to put out at a time - it does not have to be all)
each player takes turns flipping ONE token over.
If on your turn, the token you turn helps you to see ten, you say "I sea ten!" and you get to keep your tokens.
Continue to play for as long as you'd like or until the tokens are gone
If you flip over a shark you say "aw man!" and lose your turn. Place the shark back in the box.
Skills Practiced:
1:1 correspondance
counting by 1s, counting by 10s
Stage 1: counting and organizing groups within 20
Stage 2: counting and organizing groups within 100
Find a collection of something to count (it can be anything, stuffed animals, markers, etc.)
ask your child to organize them to make counting easier.
Have your child draw out a representation of their count in the large rectangle.
In the small rectangle, have them draw the number they counted.
