Welcome to our classroom website! You will find all the information you need here! There will be updates throughout the year. I will try to update the spelling words and important information each week, but I can be forgetful at times. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns through Parentsquare messaging. This is the best way to contact me. However, if you need to speak directly, I am available during the day most days at 7:35-8:00 a.m., 11:15-12:00 p.m., 1:00-1:30 pm, and some days right after school from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

There will be a bimonthly newsletter that has important information. Please be sure to check the red folder and check your child's backpack, especially on Friday.

Students will also be learning to use a student planner this year! Please check their planners and sign they read 100 minutes each week on the bottom page of the week we are on. I will give students a few minutes in the morning to fill out their planner and a little bit of time in the afternoon. Please remind your child to be responsible for filling in what we learned and remembering to bring the planner each day. Middle school relies on student planners, and the 4th grade teachers are trying to build a habit for success!

About me:

Hi! I'm Mrs. Crites. This is my 10th year at PH and 14th year in education. I have three children and am married to my college neighbor of 21 years! We live on a small little farm with pigs, cows, chickens, and sheep. I love llamas, laughter, and lattes. I'm looking forward to this new school year!

Spelling Words

1st spelling practice will be August 21st. There will be bonus word that are not on this list. They will be on the spelling list sent home typically on Monday. We are calling these tests "spelling practice" because there is not a standard on the report card to update the weekly tests. I will be pick 10 words from the list of 20 and 2-ish bonus words for extra points.

As you practice, please focus on each word part, we are looking to understand the word parts, not just memorizing letters. When practicing, concentrate on what the parts of the word mean. This will mimic what we practice in the classroom for morphology. Synonyms and antonyms are very important in 4th grade.

example: DISOBEY

dis= not

obey = Latin root -ob meaning "to or towards"

disobey means to not go towards or not listen to

synonym = ignore, resist

antonym= obey, follow, conform
