Entering the Classroom - When you come into the classroom have a willing attitude to do your personal best and make the best out of each day. Please know that I will do my best to greet you and ask what has been going on in your life. Be sure to have your needed class materials: Chromebook, history books, history folder, pencil, paper, headphones/earbuds (when needed), and anything else needed for the day.
Technology use in the Classroom - Unless specified otherwise, the only technology needed in the classroom will be your school issued Chromebook and headphones/earbuds. Cell phones are not allowed in my classroom and should be kept in your lockers turned off or on silent. Students who are caught with cell phones will have their phones taken and sent to the office. After the first time, parents/guardians will have to pick up cell phones from the school during regular office hours.
Appropriate use of Technology - Students and parents will sign the school's technology policy, which includes acceptable use policy for Chromebooks. Students that use Chromebooks inappropriately will receive a written referral and could be subject to losing the use of their Chromebook and other technology opportunities. Searches, emails, etc. are school property and can be viewed anytime.
Arriving Late to Class and Tardiness - Students should arrive to class before the bell. If the bell rings and you are not in the classroom, you will be marked tardy, unless you have a written pass from a staff member. Once the bell rings, students should begin the daily warm-up activity and follow the order posted on the daily plan projected on the screen.
Turning in Assignments - Please turn work in on time. If assignments are late, 10% will be taken off each day that it is late. Work turned in more than 2 days after the assigned date will not be accepted.
Group Work - Expect to do group work. Working in groups and coexisting with teammates is a life skill. Whether your group work teammates are your closest friends or otherwise, I expect everyone to be respectful of each other and contribute in a fair and reasonable way.
Accessing Classroom Materials - Classroom assignments and daily activities are posted on my website and in our Google Classroom. If you are not at school, you are expected to obtain the missed information. My notes and information I share is posted in the Google Classroom, and you are encouraged to make paper copies of these things as needed. The table in the back of the room is a student center with extra pencils (while supplies last), stapler, tape, and other extras - students should help themselves. If you need something, please ask at the beginning of class.
Restroom Breaks - You will need your school issues planner for passes out. I prefer if you need to use the restroom that we take care of at the beginning of class. Please keep in mind restroom passes may be restricted due to student abuse or mandates made by the administrative staff.
Classroom Participation Expectations - Classroom participation is encouraged and expected. I encourage you to cease opportunities to read aloud, but I will not force anyone to read aloud. When you are called on to participate in class discussion please give your best effort to answer. If you don't know, we will work through discovering the answer together as a class.
Dismissal Procedures - Please don't pack up early or line-up early. I dismiss you, not the bell. There are times we need to take a few seconds to finish something. If I need to write you a pass, I will.
Student Absences - I follow the school's attendance policy. It is important for you to be in class, and when you are not you must take the responsibility for assignments and things you missed for the day or days you are gone. You will be given 1 full school day to complete the assignments you missed the previous day. Don't forget to ask questions or email me if you need anything during your absence.
Be kind, respectful, and responsible - We will work together to constantly work to be individuals who express kindness, as well as respectful and responsible behaviors.
