GIFTED PROGRAM REFERRAL PROCESS
MASS SCREENING
January 7 - 10, 2025
All students in first and second grade will participate in the mass screening conducted by the PGSD gifted program staff. A student that scores at or above the 90th percentile on the group measure of intelligence (or 84th percentile with Special Considerations) will be considered for the next phase if the following criteria are met:
a score at or above the superior range on a normed published characteristics of (general) giftedness checklist
a score at or above the superior range on a normed published measure of creativity or leadership
If the above criteria is met, then parent permission is required to move to the next phase of the process which includes an IQ assessment. A student must score at or above the 91st percentile to satisfy eligibility criteria. Testing will take place at the home school during the second semester, and parents will notified of the results by mail at the end of July.
INDIVIDUAL REFERRALS
Referrals Accepted: December 9 - 13, 2025
Screening for Individual Referral: January 13-17, 2025
Student in grades 1st - 5th can be referred for the gifted program screening process. Anyone---parents, teachers, friends, students--can refer a student for screening!
During the time period between December 9th - 13th, students in 1st-5th grade can be referred for the individual referral screening process. Once referrals have been gathered, then parent permission will be requested. The gifted teachers will administer a group measure of intelligence and gather other screening information.
A student must meet the following criteria to move to the next phase in the process:
a score at or above the 90th percentile (or 84th percentile with special considerations) on a group measure of intelligence
