The IEP process can be confusing and overwhelming - especially when it is virtual. This page will provide an overview of the process and introduce you to the most common documents you will see as a member of your child's IEP team.
Your child is entering the four year old program at H Winship Wheatley Early Childhood Center. For some of you, Wheatley has become a familiar place where your child has grown over the years. For others, Wheatley might still be new to your family.
During this school year, your child will have an annual review. For children with IEPs, this is a team meeting that is held each year so that the team can talk about your child's progress, what supports they learn best with, and what goals we can set for the following year.
Below, you will find three documents that you will receive at the beginning of each IEP meeting:
This document outlines services that may be provided in your county, or through your insurance provider
Procedural Safeguards are outlined by the state of Maryland to provide your rights as part of the IEP team. This document outlines these safeguards and explains how the IEP process works, and how team decisions are made.
This is a one-page document that explains the role of each person on your child's IEP team.
This is an additional document provided as a resource to you. If the IEP team does not agree, this outlines how disputes are resolved.
