SCHOOL COUNSELING MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Prince George's County Public Schools Office of School Counseling is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. School Counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement and minimize achievement disparities among all groups of students. In partnership with educators, parents or guardians and the community, School Counselors facilitate individual and system change to ensure all students have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills at the highest level as productive members of society.

The vision of Prince George's County Public Schools Office of School Counseling is to assist and encourage self-understanding and responsible self-direction in all students, from kindergarten to successful completion of diploma requirements by aligning School Counseling Goals with the Prince George's County Public Schools Priority Goals and The American School Counseling Association Mindsets and Behaviors
