CPA Visual Arts
Total Audition Time: Approximately 90 minutes
The visual arts program emphasizes critical thinking and responding with consideration given to all of the issues involved in artistic creativity - intellectual, historical, cultural, sociological, and aesthetic. Students will produce art in multiple forms such as drawing, printmaking, collage, ceramics, and sculpture.
What are we looking for:
We are looking for students with potential who demonstrate their passion for the visual arts. Successful students show strong observational skills and hand-eye coordination.
What to bring/how to prepare?
Students should attend audition workshops at each school where the audition process and content are discussed. All questions will be addressed during this session.
(Please do not use digital images generated using apps or software as the required artworks)
Portfolio Requirements: Please use the appropriate google submission form one week in advance.

*The deadline to upload the required portfolio images is January 5, 2026.
Required Portfolio Images (6 total):
A drawn portrait (cartoons/manga/superheros not acceptable)
A drawn landscape
A drawn or painted still life (any type)
Student choice
At least 3 artworks
any subject excluding cartoon characters,
any medium. Digital images are acceptable in this category
any size
** Note: For three-dimensional pieces, submit images from multiple views.
**Applicants are encouraged to bring their sketchbook to show drawing skills.

The audition process itself:
Students should attend the virtual visual art audition workshop in November where the audition process and content are discussed. The date and time for this workshop will be announced. The onsite audition process will include two parts:
It will include a 20-minute interview to demonstrate the following:
Discussion of their artwork
Positive response and enthusiasm for visual arts
Willingness to discuss and accept constructive criticism
Desire to experiment with "new media" and techniques
Awareness of and sensitivity to aesthetic ideas, feelings and expressions
Willingness to examine art history as part of the visual art process.
It will include a 45-minute onsite observational drawing to demonstrate the following
Use of space/composition
Placement of objects
Likeness to subject matter
Attention to detail
Neatness

Take time and care with your required artwork.
Arrive early
Bring your sketchbook if you have one
Be prepared to discuss your artwork
