I have a question for Harlan.
11:03:34 From Emily Smith (she/her/hers) to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was...
11:03:52 From Amiel Brillantes to Everyone:
… not for me. … can be done by anyone.
11:04:01 From Martina Brym to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration required a formal summative project, now I know it can be formative and ongoing through a lesson.
11:04:02 From Emily Smith (she/her/hers) to Everyone:
Now I think arts integration is...
11:04:02 From Gloria Flowers to Everyone:
I use to think Arts Integration was an assignment or task. Now I think Arts Integration is a approach to teaching and learning process.
11:04:09 From Kim Vejarano to Everyone:
Are the low, medium and high levels connected to a standard? I was wondering; it was very creative.
11:04:10 From forrest.turetsky to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was all visual but know I see it can involve physical movement.
11:04:20 From Journey Favazza to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was occasionally putting an arts project to expand the learning. I now think it is a way of teaching the content using the arts so that the students can put more meaning and embody the curriculum
11:04:25 From Kerra Hayes to Everyone:
I used to think that Art Integration was teacher centered. Now I know that it is student centered.
11:04:27 From Gabrielle Corrao to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was a periodic activity to use for certain content units. Now, I understand arts integration as an approach to teaching and learning that focuses on creativity, movement, and fun.
11:04:28 From Caleb to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was a little harder to implement into lessons. Now I think it would be a fun experience for the students in my class
11:04:33 From Myriam Kanfor to Everyone:
I used to think art integration was to draw or paint only, now I know that art integration involves many forms of art and does not teach art parallel to the lesson but IS the medium for the lesson
11:04:35 From Jaclyn Boehm to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was only for elementary school and now I see I can do it in High School too
11:04:42 From Jessica Hebron to Everyone:
I used to think that arts integration was needed. Now, I know that it is essential.
11:04:48 From Ms. Lee to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was more visual arts, but now I think arts integration takes many forms and it is on going rather than one complete lesson.
11:04:50 From Corenne Chatman to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was taking one lesson and integrating the arts but now I know that arts integration is a process and can be built on through many lessons until it is finally an approach to teaching.
11:04:55 From Emily Farrell to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was an addition to my normal teaching. Now I know that it can be my normal teaching.
11:05:02 From Maurisa Howard to Everyone:
I used to think AI was an end of unit project. Now I know it is an approach to daily teaching.
11:05:03 From Harlan Brownlee to Everyone:
The levels are an element of dance. In the lesson I used the elements of dance as a basis for exploring movement
11:05:04 From Mr. Williams to Everyone:
I use to think Arts integration was using more complex and difficult to plan for. Now I think Arts integration is natural part of engaging scholars.
11:05:11 From Deanna Fraser to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was a monthly project but now I think arts integration is a daily approach to teaching.
11:05:14 From Kristin Beeker to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was just including art in your lesson somehow. This has really showed me the connection of intertwining both content standards
11:05:15 From Michelle Duncan to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was using art in a lesson. Now I think arts integration is the students ability to use the arts to actually show or express their understanding of a given concept.
11:05:15 From Taukeya Brooks to Everyone:
I used to thin arts integration was an arts and crafts project with the lesson. Now I know that arts integration is students having autonomy of their creative process.
11:05:16 From Kyara Alicea Rivera to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was just drawing and singing in class. Now I know that is students exploring and creating in any art form as part of the learning process.
11:05:25 From Kim Vejarano to Everyone:
Arts Integration and enhancement bring learning to life.
11:05:32 From marissa.clingen to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was just teaching another content area through art. Now I think it is a more conscious and evolving practice to not just learn content but also skill in the art form.
11:05:36 From Kashra Shelton to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was mostly the visual form. Now I know it is much more than that! It's how we can make learning more visible and engage students!
11:05:38 From suneta.upadhyay to Everyone:
I used to think art integration is only applicable in art class, now I think I can use art in High school to give students a creative medium to express their learning about a topic.
11:05:41 From Whitney Cook-Dickens to Everyone:
I used to think Art Integration was a project. Now I think Art Integration is essential to build the connection with the scholars and content.
11:05:42 From Renna to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was something to do now I know it is a way to think
11:05:53 From Marla Weaver to Everyone:
Arts Integration has so many options to completely change how we educate and teach students to take control of their own learning…very excited.
11:05:57 From Grace Oliveto to Everyone:
Arts integration can be the focus of every lesson instead of an addition
11:06:02 From Christopher Lawson to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was drawing and coloring
11:06:31 From missroanneroanne to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration would be very difficult to implement into lessons. Now, I'm excited to think I can use the cloud dance lesson in my class.
11:06:32 From alexis’s iPhone to Everyone:
I used to think that arts integration is just incorporating art projects in the lesson but now i’ve learned that it goes deeper than that. it can be any art form and students can use art to show deeper understanding of lessons
11:06:34 From Shari Williams to Everyone:
I used to think arts integration was difficult to implement in the classroom. Now I know if it is embedded in the lesson plan it's not too difficult.
11:06:45 From Aubrey A. Thompson to Everyone:
I used to think that arts integration was the infusion of arts related activities: now I know that it is how you teach-the approach.
11:07:13 From Mawamba Sipa to Everyone:
I used to think that Arts Integration was Arts Enhancement. Now I understand that it's a creative process that is student centered. Students construct and show understanding through an art form.
11:07:41 From marydominic.lorena@pgcps.org to Everyone:
…… teacher has to be a real artist to be able to do it. …….. if the teacher puts art in his/her heart and express it, it could bear beautiful fruits among our students.
11:07:56 From Emily Smith (she/her/hers) to Everyone:
Beautifully said, everyone!
11:08:09 From loli.chamberslamkin to Everyone:
I used to think Arts Integration was presenting an understanding of a subject or concept or skill via an art format such as drawing or creative writing. I now think Arts Integration is allowing an individual students to fully embrace the Art format and lean in fully with that, but also fully embrace the other subject area and lean in fully with that as well. Both have equal value and matter! They enhance each other.
