Weeding by inventory

Instructions

  1. Create a new circulation type (Admin>Library Policies>Circulation types) - to weed

  2. Run state report OR Report builder>New report>Library Copies>barcode/call number/publication year.

  3. In excel, Sort by publication year.

  4. Copy barcodes of materials from 2002 and older (or any year/any range of your choice - you can do this in section) and paste onto notepad. Save.

OR use titlewise weeding candidates report.

  1. Catalog>Update copies>Batch update>change circ type to "to weed" (or whatever you named your new circ type)>upload save notepad file.

  2. Admin>Inventory>Start New>Circulation types - Update: Uncheck 'to weed' (and ebooks if you have any)

  3. Scan

  4. When you will scan a book with a circ type 'to weed', you will hear the negative sound. If you decide to weed it, put it aside, otherwise, leave on your shelves.

  5. Update copies>scan 'to weed' books to delete (last look to make sure you want to weed)

  6. Finalize inventory

  7. Delete 'to weed' circ type (return to BOOK)

Instead of doing a blank 20 years, you can select which books to weed by sections according to the guideline.
