Resource lists

Sharing a resource list

When using a Windows computer:

Destiny on Local server

  • Find your site number by hovering your mouse pointer over the link to your library at the Destiny district page
  • The address for the link should display at the bottom of your browser and you will find your site’s number at the end of the link
    • Or, right click the link and choose properties, your site number will appear there
    • Or, click the icon to the right of the link and look at the end of the link in the “URL” field
  • It will be a 3 digit number
  • Open the public resource list (do not login) and copy the link
  • Be sure it is set to be public
  • Paste the link in Notepad or any text editor
  • Add the following to the end of the link
      • &site=xxx
      • xxx would be your 3 digit site number
      • Example: &site=100
  • To test the link you need to use a different browser or log out of Destiny and close the browser you were using and then re-open it

Permanent link to a search result:

1. Perform your search using the basic search box

2. At the Search Results page, click on Refine Your Search

3. Now you will be at the Basic Search box again, but you can see that the URL is long and reflects the search you just performed. Highlight the URL and at the very end add your site number - for example, &site=102

4. Now highlight the URL again, and look carefully at the beginning of the URL. It should look something like this:

http://destiny.pgcps.org/cataloging/servlet/presentbasicsearchform.do?keywordText= (I didn't copy the whole URL just this important bit)

Replace "present" with 'handle" so it looks like this:

http://destiny.pgcps.org/cataloging/servlet/handlebasicsearchform.do?keywordText=

Now you should have a URL that looks something like this:

http://destiny.pgcps.org/cataloging/servlet/handlebasicsearchform.do?keywordText=differentiated+instruction&siteTypeID=-2&searchType=keyword&siteID=&includeLibrary=true&includeMedia=false&mediaSiteID=&doNotSaveSearchHistory=false&awardGroupID=-1&site=295 (I've highlighted the bits you need to add/change to get a good URL)
