All interested 8th-grade PGCPS students will be considered for admission into the S&T Program as long as they take the PSAT 8/9 at their school. PGCPS 9th grade students who are interested must apply to be considered for any openings in their current class. The PSAT 8/9 Test Administration will take place in October of the year preceding enrollment. Nonpublic school students in 8th and 9th grade interested in the Science and Technology Program must apply. Please visit www.pgcps.org/testing and click on Specialty Programs to obtain additional information. Applications typically open in August!
Admission to the Science and Technology Program is highly competitive. Students who are selected for the program represent the top 10% of students from Prince George’s County Public Schools.
All PGCPS 8th graders are evaluated for the Science and Technology program.
Entrance for incoming 9th graders is based upon two factors:
Student grades in core courses (math, English, science, and social studies) for all four quarters of 7th grade and the first quarter of 8th grade.
Student performance on the PSAT 8/9.
Private school, homeschool, and ninth grade students who would like to join the Science and Technology Program need to apply for entrance and test to enter the program.
Tenth grade students are admitted on a space available basis and must compete for a few openings per year.
Entrance for incoming 10th graders is based upon two factors:
Student grades in core courses (math, English, science, and social studies) for all four quarters of 8th grade and the first quarter of 9th.
Student performance on the PSAT 8/9.
