Classroom Policies

·         All assignments must be written in blue or black ink or in pencil.  Any assignment written in any other ink color will be deemed unprofessional thus a ZERO for that assignment will result.

·         Students are only allowed to make up missed assignments that were as a result of an excused absence.  Students are responsible for requesting make up work before or after class.  Depending on the nature of the assignment, time may be needed to best meet the student’s need.

·         Students are not allowed to make up missed assignments, for credit, if they were present on the day that the assignments were given.

·         Unexcused tardies result in missed class time and therefore a lower grade due to missed instructional time and assignments.

·         All assignments must be turned in on the assigned due date.

·         Accommodations will be made for students with IEP and 504 plans accordingly.

·         All students are to sit in their assigned seats.

Classroom Procedures

·         Upon entering the classroom, students are to immediately begin working on the warm-up.

·         Sharpen pencils before the late bell rings.  If you need to sharpen your pencil during class, please notify me by raising your hand to reduce disruption.

·         In cases of unexcused absences, students may complete missed assignments for understanding of the content material, but not for credit.  If a student chooses to complete an assignment for understanding, then he or she will be more successful on tests, quizzes, and understanding subsequent material.

PGCPS Grading Procedures

·         Strict adherence to PGCPS Administrative Procedure 5121.3 will be followed.  It includes but is not limited to the following:

·         Teachers shall assign a minimum grade of 50% to assignments or assessments for which the student made a good faith effort, as defined by completing at least 50% of the assignment, to meet the basic requirements. If a student does no work on an assignment or assessment, the teacher shall assign a grade of zero.

·         Students and/or parents may request one additional opportunity to improve a score on a qualifying assessment, activity, or assignment that demonstrates knowledge of course content, skills, and standards.
