This semester graduation required course provides students with learning experiences that integrate content and skills, through which students are able to develop understanding of the core health concepts of personal and consumer health, mental and emotional health, nutrition and fitness, family life and human sexuality, first aid and safety, substance abuse prevention with an emphasis on coping with peer pressure and abstaining from drug use, and disease prevention and control. The Family Life and Human Sexuality unit of this course requires parent permission for participation.

Only those students with a LAWFUL ABSENCE WILL be allowed to receive and make-up assignments. DUE DATES WILL APPLY.
Students who have an UNLAWFUL ABSENCE WILL NOT be allowed to receive or make-up assignments.
PGCPS Absence/Truancy Policy
LAWFUL ABSENCE - when absences are lawful scores of zero should be recorded if makeup work is provided and not done in the proper timeframe. (See Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for a full explanation)
UNLAWFUL ABSENCE /TRUANCY - Unlawful absence is defined as the act of a student being absent from school for a day or any portion of a day from an individual class for any reason other than those defined as lawful. when absences are unlawful a score of zero is entered in the gradebook. Teachers ARE NOT required to provide make-up work for students when absences are unlawful. Truancy is defined as unlawfully absent for 8 days or more in a quarter, 15 days in a semester, or 20 days in a school year. (See Students Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for a full explanation)
