Hello everyone! I am Vilma Machete-Murcia and I am fondly called Ms. Bing by my students and colleagues. Though I have been working as a teacher for 25 years, I was not always in the field of education. I am an Engineer and has been working in this industry for more than 10 years. The corporate world had a lot to offer but it felt like it took away my life and my youth. It seemed like I was growing old too quickly. The field of teaching beckoned and even if it is a road less travelled I became interested, enthralled, hooked and here I am serving the young population.

I am a licensed Chemical Engineer from the University of San Carlos, took education courses to qualify for teacher licensure at Holy Name University, studied for my Masters in Special Education at Cebu Normal University, and finished my Doctor in Education Governance at Philippines Christian University. I hold an Advance Professional Certification in Elementary 1-6, Generic Special Education 1-8/6-adult, Mathematics 4-9, Math 7-12, and ESOL. Cooking and Karaoke are my de-stressors and I like to be among young people. I always tell my students to never believe in labels because labels do not determine who you are. You are determined by choices and decisions you consciously make everyday of your life. "First, say to yourself where you would want to be. Then, do what you need to do to get there." Ms. Bing is a living and breathing proof of this saying.
