Reading Tips for Parents:
Reading with Family Improves Achievement
Research shows that children who read at home with their families - no matter their ages - do better in school. To help your child develop and improve their reading skills:
Keep good reading materials handy: magazines, books, newspapers, etc. Make it easy; sign up for a library card at your local public library.
Have your child read aloud. Take turns reading and discuss the reading together.
Talk about books: the plot, characters, and your child's reactions to them.
Set a good example by reading yourself every day.
