The Largo High School Counseling Department provides comprehensive academic planning to ensure every student satisfies Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) graduation requirements while preparing for post-secondary success.
PGCPS Graduation Requirements Checklist
To earn a High School Diploma in Prince George's County, students must earn a minimum of 22 Credits, complete 24 Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours, and satisfy Maryland High School Assessment (HSA/MCAP) requirements (English, Math, Science, Social Studies).

REQUIRED MCAP ASSESSMENT
English Language Arts (ELA 10): Required for students enrolled in English 10.
Mathematics (Algebra I): Required for students enrolled in Algebra I.
Science (LS MISA / Biology): Required upon completion of high school life science/biology coursework.
American Government: Required upon completing the state high school government course requirement
STUDENT SERVICE LEARNING HOURS
24 Independent Hours: Earned through community service activities with approved organizations outside of regular classroom instruction.
How to Complete Independent Hours
Find a Site: Choose a non-profit, tax-exempt community organization, or an approved for-profit facility like a nursing home or hospital. If the site is not pre-approved, submit a Service-Learning Site Approval Form before starting.
Submit Verification: Complete a Student Service-Learning Verification Form and return completed form to the inbox located in the Counseling Office.
