About Our Library

The Prince George's County Public School's Library Program at Lake Arbor Elementary School serves to instill a love of reading, inspire life-long learning, and foster independent research and library use. Students visit once or twice each week to check out materials, practice information literacy skills, and strengthen our digital citizenship skills.

The LAES Media Center is:

  • an inviting space where students may acquire knowledge and gain insight,

  • a welcoming haven where children may seek respite from a demanding day, and

  • a stimulating place where scholars may open books and open their minds for a better tomorrow.

Media Center Policies

Using the Media Center

  • Students who wish to use the Media Center during the school day, 8:00 a.m. - 1:45 p.m, must have a signed pass from the teacher of their current class.

  • Students are to be quiet and actively engaged in reading; writing; research; class-work; projects; or assignments in the Media Center.

  • All visitors should treat library property and the property of others with respect.

Borrowing Materials

  • Students are scheduled to come to the library once every other week to interact with texts, media, and learn academic concepts related to literacy and reading.
