The Class of 2027 Team encourage students to earn at least 14 SSL hours by June 2025.

To have your service hours properly recorded in StudentVUE, you must complete and submit this form. Forms are also available in the Guidance Office Lobby.
Please note:
To ensure your form is legible and properly reviewed, keep it free of rips, tears, or stains. Store it in a folder until submission to maintain its condition.
You do not need to schedule an appointment with your School Counselor to obtain the form.
The form must be fully completed, with each section filled out in clear and complete sentences.
Be sure to include the Student’s signature, Parent/Caregiver’s signature, and the signature of the Organizer/Program Leader.
Incomplete forms or missing signatures will result in unvalidated hours.
Once completed, submit the form to the Guidance Office Lobby. Before submission, please take a photo of the form for your records.
Please allow up to two school weeks for your service hours to be entered into StudentVUE.

If needed, you can change your language preference on the website. According to the website, students earn service learning hours by:

Including a letter, with the cards, requesting service hours (include the number of hours requested). As long as the donation and service hours request are reasonable, CFHK will send a verification letter and/or form signature confirming service hours. Project Wellness Summer Mental Health Training

Project Wellness will be hosting Summer Mental Health Trainings in both QPR and Youth Mental Health First Aid. Adolescents starting at the age of 14 are invited to participate in our QPR training starting in June! My Neighbor's Keeper Alliance (MyNKA), a community-based nonprofit committed to youth substance misuse prevention and mental health advocacy, is now an approved Student Service Learning (SSL) site for Prince George’s County middle and high school students. Students who volunteer with MyNKA will gain meaningful service hours through hands-on experiences that promote leadership, creativity, and civic responsibility—all aligned with the Maryland State Department of Education’s 7 Best Practices for Service Learning.

We are hosting a three-day Conflict Management Summer Camp for high schoolers on June 25th, 26th and 27th from 10-3pm. It's free of charge and will be at our office in Greenbelt. There's a maximum capacity of 16 students, and they will receive a swag bag filled with school supplies and gift cards and 10 hours of community service credits. It is also our hope that students from all backgrounds get access to the camp -those excelling in school and those struggling to find success. Unity in Action: Clean and Green
On Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., Unity in Action: Clean and Green Day is seeking students to participate in community service, education on environmental justice, and a guided tour that highlights the intersection of environmental and social justice.
Community Cleanup: Students will participate in a cleanup effort at the National Mall.
Guided Tour: A tour exploring historical sites that highlight the importance of social and environmental justice.
Educational Session: A discussion on how students can advocate for environmental justice in their communities.
Group Photo: We’ll conclude with a group photo at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.
Students can earn community service hours for their participation in this event. At the end of the day, each student will receive a certificate of service to document their involvement.

The DuVal HS Family Market is a wonderful program that provides free produce and food to our school families. Students have the opportunity to volunteer by helping distribute food to those in need.
The next distribution date is after school on Friday, March 14. If you are interested in volunteering, please keep an eye on your email for a message from Ms. Kyshia Simmons (kyshia.simmons@pgcps.org) a few days before the market date. The email will include a link to the student volunteer Google Form.
The Latino Student Fund is looking for tutors. Students 16+ (or other individuals) can volunteer with LSF as a tutor at any one of their 3 sites. LSF focuses on math and English skills, but tutoring is tailored to each student's needs. Several tutors at this location speak Spanish and can work with students with limited English proficiency.
Keep in mind this is a long-term volunteer opportunity as volunteers are asked to participate weekly, from September - May with breaks for holidays, etc.
