The SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test, is widely used test for college applications. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.
The SAT has two topics: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. The SAT offers an optional essay section. Students should check with the college admission requirements to determine if the essay is needed. The College Board also offer SAT Subject Tests. These tests may be required by certain colleges. Please check with the college you are interested in for their requirements.
The SAT Reasoning is offered throughout the school year. However, what locations are available each month is entirely in the discretion of the College Board, as are all rules and regulations associated with the SAT. The SAT Subject Tests are offered less frequently but also regularly through the year. To find out when and where an SAT is available, or to register or prepare for the SAT, please refer to www.collegeboard.com. All SAT registration MUST be done on-line.
SAT Accommodations are only given with the approval of the College Board. Students with school based accommodations cannot be given their accommodations without College Board approval. Accommodations SAT must be obtained through the College Board. The process is lengthy and requires significant documentation, and approval can only be granted by the College Board. If you have a child who you believe needs accommodations for one of these tests, contact their caseworker or guidance counselor for assistance with the process as soon as possible.

Official SAT Practice helps students focus on exactly what they need to work on most. There are two ways to get personalized practice: Students can link their College Board and Khan Academy accounts to send their scores from the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, PSAT 8/9, or SAT; or, if students don't have scores to share, they can take diagnostic quizzes.
How Students Link Their College Board and Khan Academy Accounts:
Go to satpractice.org. Create an account on Khan Academy or sign in to their existing account.
When prompted, agree to link their Khan Academy and College Board accounts.
Send their scores.
If students don't have scores to share, they can still get personalized practice at satpractice.org by taking a few short quizzes on the site.
