Our Mission & Vision

Mission: The Bladensburg High School's ELD Department will deliberately empower all Multilingual Learners to reach high levels of academic excellence, positive character, and college and career readiness through high quality and culturally responsive instruction that is grounded in a culture of excellence.

Areas of Responsibility:

The ELD program is in charge of:

Providing the English language instruction required by law for identified MLs in Bladensburg High School through lessons that target linguistic development.
Developing the English Language Acquisition Plans (ELAP) outlining goals, testing accommodations, and classroom instructional supports for MLs as required by state and federal law.
Collaborating with other content-area teachers and staff to advocate for, implement ELAPs, and interpret data on the linguistic needs of our students.
Providing students and families with sessions to develop leadership, parental engagement, and cultural heritage celebrations.
