About the Magazine
WHERE DO WE COME FROM? Established in 2022, Garrison's Landing is the literary magazine of Bladensburg High School, which is part of Prince George's County Public Schools in Bladensburg, Maryland. The magazine's original creators and advisors were three of the school's educators: Mr. Raymond Feliciano, Mrs. Kelsey Hollick, and Ms. Kylee Willette, all of whom still presently teach at Bladensburg High.
WHAT'S IN THE NAME? The town of Bladensburg, Maryland was originally called "Garrison's Landing," but was renamed in honor of Thomas Bladen, the governor of Maryland from 1742 - 1747. We chose "Garrison's Landing" as the name for Bladensburg High School's literary magazine in honor of the rich history of this town. From being a historic port town to the Battle of Bladensburg, our town is filled with monumental moments in history. Just like the students and staff at our school, this town has a unique, diverse background, and the name, “Garrison’s Landing,” represents this diversity.
WHO ARE WE, NOW? Garrison's Landing is entirely student-led. Editors, designers, writers and artists meet weekly after school to create biannual editions of the school magazine. The club's current teacher advisors are Mrs. Kelsey Hollick and Ms. Kylee Willette.
