The Screencastify videos give a snapshot of the PGCPS databases found at destiny.pgcps.com and on Clever. The databases on this page are for students grades PK- 8. They will have a brief grade level description to help select the one appropriate for the students. Each video runs about 5 to 8 minutes. Please be sure to check out the Log-in information found below for usernames and passwords.

PK- 2 Britannica Fundamentals features reading, math, social studies, science read to students with interactive elements. Britannica Fundamentals
3-6 Britannica School Elementary for current events, articles, videos, broad information on topics found in encyclopedias. Will translate into any language. Will read to students. Britannica Elementary

PK-8 LINK Online Resources connects students directly to the Prince George's County Memorial Library System. Many more online databases. Many more e-books. Pebble Go can be found here as well under databases. Students use pgcps and their 9 digit student identification number as their username and the last 4 digits of their student id as their password. PK-8 Safari Montage has videos on all levels, subject areas, and can be viewed as a full video or just a small segment of a much longer piece. One can now link selections to a Google Classroom and make your own playlists about a topic. Publishers who contribute to this collection include BBC, PBS, Disney, Westen Woods, Reading Rainbow, NASA, and so many more. Safari Montage
3-5 Gale Elementary is another encyclopedia with articles, current news, images, and videos. To help narrow the search, click on the orange Elementary rectangle at the top of the page. There are three rectangles. Go to the far right one that says Elementary. Graphics help students narrow searches. Brief introductions lead to articles from magazines, newspapers, an d other sources. 6-8 Gale Middle School is another encyclopedia with articles, current news, images, and videos. To help narrow the search, click on the blue Middle at the top of the page and Middle school once you are there. 6-8 SIRS Discoverer is a good resource for getting many sides of a topic. Pro and Con articles and videos are used to examine a question. The topics are current, as are the resources. Nonfiction ebooks can also be found on the site. SIRS Discoverer
PK-8 TeachingBooks is an excellent resource for books, authors, illustrators, and book videos or audio clips. Authors and illustrators talk about their process. Lists of book topics or awards are found. Activities for books are linked to all of the books. Great for students and for teachers. Teaching Books
2-5 World Book Kids has encyclopedia articles, videos, images, games, activities, puzzles, a dictionary, and maps. A fine place to land on a rainy day with nothing to do and an interest in exploring and playing. WIll read and translate into many languages. An entire Spanish language encyclopedia is also on the World Book link. Articles in Spanish link with the English articles. World Book Kids
5-8 World Book Student has encyclopedia articles, videos, images, and behind the headlines current events. Collect resources in the My Research place to use as a depository for weblinks, articles, books, and other material found on a topic. Will translate and read to students. World Book Student
ONLINE EBOOK ACCESS INFORMATION
PCCPS has a variety of e-reading resources for students. Beside what you may have and use in your class to support literacy, like i-Ready, please have students look at the following databases and e-book selections sponsored by the Office of Library Media. All of these are available through two routes destiny.pgcps.org or in Clever.
SORA - Sora is a collection of e-books and some audio or read along books for all grade levels.
When logging in, there will be a green bar saying Prince George Schools, click on that.
Students can Borrow books directly from the site.
There are some books in Spanish in the collection.
Only one person at a time can check out the book (no class reading unless assigned.)
Once the book is done, they return it by going to the Options line under the Borrow tab. If the book needs to be renewed, that is in Options as well.
At the bottom of the page, the Binoculars are for Searching for a book. The Books are what you have borrowed. The Me Smiley Face is a record of the number of books checked out and the amount of time spent reading.
The three lines at the top are what to click to Sign Out. You do that twice.
TRUEFLIX- Social Studies and Science books are for grades 3-6.
To sign in, please have students use for the Username: pgcps and the password: pgcps. (Students tend to want to put in their school username and password, that won't work.)
On the left of the page, are Social Studies books and on the right, Science. Each topic has books to select from under it.
Each book has: an intro video (1-2 minutes long); an e-book that will read to the student, if prompted and vocabulary is explained if the word is touched; Activity ideas has two types of quizzes-comprehension check (graded) and vocabulary; and the other items have follow ups.
There are no Spanish books in the collection
Multiple people can be assigned the same book and students can read the book together..
TUMBLEBOOKS: Genres are mixed and reading levels for most books are PK-2 audience, but here are many higher level books there as well.
Signing in at home, the username is bfjmediactr and the password is pgcps.
Many of the books will read along with the user, but the audio can be muted.
There are puzzles and games that go along with the books. They build up comprehension and vocabulary skills.
Books are also found in Spanish and French.
Multiple people can read the book together.
LINC Online Resources: Connects the student directly to the resources (databases and print or e-books) found in the Prince George's County Memorial Library. (The blue link really does work )
Every student in PGCPS has a LINC account.
To access this, all they do is use their nine digit student ID number with the prefix pgcps. (Example: pgcps121234348)
Three real live books can be checked out using this number if a student doesn't have a library card.
All of the databases and online book catalogs are accessible this way as well.
