My name is Arianna Pankey. I am a 13 year old girl born on September 7th, 2003 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. I now live in Bowie, MD with my mother, my father, and my two older brothers - Micah and Malachi. As the youngest child in my family and also the only girl I had to learn quickly to use my voice if I wanted my opinion to be heard. I am a curly haired, rising 9th grader who loves sports and art and will begin my Raider career running track and playing volleyball. I love to use my creativity to design things and also to help others in any way possible. I like to think that my family, my faith, and my individuality has helped to shape who I am today.
To me, life is all about finding your passions and spending your time doing what you love with who you love. Life is about making a difference and leaving your mark on the world. I am a very independent, faithful and introverted person who loves helping others. I realized that I loved helping others on the way to my church one Sunday morning several years ago. At the time my church was located in Baltimore, and I noticed a lot of homeless people asking for food and money. So I started putting food in the car on Sunday’s and giving the food to as many homeless people as we could. From that day forward, I learned that I love serving those in need. I also like making art and hanging out with friends. I love animals and I hate hearing about animal cruelty. I believe all of my personality traits help contribute to my hunger to get a quality education.
I started my education when I was 4 years old attending Rockledge Elementary School from kindergarten to 5th grade. I then went to Samuel Ogle Middle School where I found a passion for art, math, and reading and I was involved in several service learning activities both with my school and my church. Activities such as: nursing home visits; mission’s trips; I helped clean up my school and plant new flowers around the school; I helped run fundraisers in my school; I donated 30+ pairs of jeans to a charity called Teens for Jeans; and more. During my middle school years I earned principal’s honor roll through all of my 7th and 8th grade year and graduated with a 4.16 cumulative GPA; Additionally, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society; I was nominated and accepted as one of twenty- four students to participate in a program at NIH where I completed two years of study through a grant given by the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) and I was honored to have received the Collaborators Award; I am a TAG identified student and I showcased my artwork in a PGCPS countywide art exhibit. I was a level 8 USAG gymnast with Docksiders Gymnastics and was nominated and selected two consecutive years to participate in the Talent Advancement Program at Woodward Gymnastics Camp. I currently am training to run track and I participate on the volleyball team for Roosevelt's junior varsity team. I also attended a National Junior Young Leader Conference in Washington, D.C and I attended a University of Maryland Computer Science program for 2 years.
When I get older I plan on going into the medical field to either become an epidemiologist or a neonatologist. I plan on attending a college that will help me prepare for my career in the medical field and intend to get an advanced degree required to be an epidemiologist or a neonatologist. I plan to get married and have children. I also plan to impact my community and donate to different charities. I would like to incorporate my love for animals into my future by owning a lot of pets. I believe that integrating all of my interests into my future will set me up to become a very successful person who is a contributing member of society.
Therefore, I believe that my education now will heavily impact my future. I plan on using everything that I’ve learned throughout elementary and middle school to thrive in high school. Also, in order to thrive in high school, I know that I will need to keep my focus strong and my faith stronger. The difference between me and some other kids my age is that I am determined to never give up or lose focus on my goals. I am very determined to set myself up to have a great, successful future, where I can be happy and bring happiness to others. Through God’s grace I have made it this far, and I plan on going much further.
