We have 28 days of school until the end of Quarter 4!

We expect each student to reach their growth potential. In addition to daily instruction in all content areas, students receive scaffolded lessons on the skills taught since August. The integration will help increase students' math and literacy focus and strategies on the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program, MCAP.

We encourage parental/guardian support in the following ways:

§ Ensures students read 20-30 minutes

§ Establish a 'No Screen Rule.' This practice, recommended by The National Sleep Foundation and the American Academy of Pediatrics, can significantly improve your child's sleep quality, leading to better focus and academic performance.

§ Ask many questions: Staing is intentional about routine check-ins, which can help your student alleviate stress or anxiety about all aspects of school.

§ Send/Bring your student(s) to school each day (unless the absence is lawful).

§ Schedule parent shadow visits; a great way to communicate with your students and learn firsthand about their expectations.

Additionally,

Students will continue earning points for their efforts as participants in our school-wide instructional Grow and Go incentive activities.

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL INFORMATION

🚘 CAR RIDERS:

Arrival: Students will arrive at school between 8:45 am and 9:05 am. Please do not drop your child off early. If you arrive before 8:45 am, remain with your child in your vehicle until 8:45 am.

Dismissal: Car riders will begin being dismissed at 3:40 pm. Parents will remain in their vehicle until a staff member comes to their car to call the student out. Please do not get out of your vehicle. Also, please do not pass other vehicles in the car line. Parents are expected to pick their child up by 4:00 pm, as staff are off duty then.

Additional Information: Student drop off and pickup locations are in the staff parking lots on Berry Road (grades K-5) and Livingston Road (grades 6-8). DO NOT enter the bus lot. The bus lot is for buses and approved day care vans ONLY. To reduce the number of vehicles in the car line, we encourage you to have your child ride the school bus.

🚌 BUS RIDERS:

Students should report to their assigned bus stop 10 minutes earlier than the indicated time. Students may only use their assigned bus stop and MAY NOT ride a bus they are not assigned to. Please be patient, as there is a shortage of bus drivers, and many drivers cover more than one route per school. If you have questions or concerns about your child's bus, please reach out to the PGCPS transportation department at 301-952-6570.

Bus schedules may be viewed in the SchoolMax Family Portal and with PGCPS InfoFinder (https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=PGCPS5UR2GLJ6U)

Postcards with bus assignments were also mailed to families with students registered for school.

Students must have been registered for school by August 9 to have been assigned school bus transportation for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

Families who registered late or have not yet received a bus assignment can use InfoFinder (https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=PGCPS5UR2GLJ6U) by entering their home address to view bus routes and stops nearest to their home.
