Mr. Rowland
Hello! My name is David Rowland and I am your 5th grade Reading/Social Studies teacher. I am excited for your child to join my classroom and I know we are all going to have an incredible time and expand our knowledge together! This is my sixth year teaching and all of my years have been right here at CMIT South Elementary! I have previously taught reading and social studies in 5th grade as well as 3rd grade and 2nd grade. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Teacher Education (Urban Education) from the University of Delaware and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. I am currently working on my second Master’s degree from Western Governors University in Curriculum and Instruction. My approach to teaching is to first build a classroom community and then expand upon those interpersonal relationships to create a rigorous and challenging reading classroom environment for my students. I rely heavily upon communication with parents and am looking forward to your partnership in your child’s educational journey throughout the 5th grade year.
My name is Ms. Jenkins, and I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade Science, Social Studies, and Health this year at CMIT South! More importantly, I am thrilled to be your teacher! It will be a fun year of learning and new adventures, and I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us. I was born and raised in Prince George's County. I attended Tiffin University in Ohio and earned a Bachelor's degree. In 2020, I graduated with my Master's at the University of Maryland Global College. I am currently working on a Masters in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University and will be graduating in early 2025. As a student-athlete, my academics were always a top priority. I feel like education is a foundation. I believe that a good education provides a solid foundation for kids to be successful in the future. For over 12 years, I've worked in early childhood development and education. I'm excited about this role and looking forward to this school year.
