Woods Hole, MA | “Situated on the very top of the highest point of land in the locality is the cozy clubhouse of the Woods Hole Golf Club, where, no matter from which direction the wind may blow, a cooling breeze is sure to sweep across the verandah, adding much to the pleasure of watching the players go over the course.”
- FALMOUTH ENTERPRISE, AUGUST 12, 1899
Since its beginnings, Woods Hole Golf Club has been celebrated for its picturesque location on Cape Cod overlooking Buzzard’s Bay and Quissett Harbor. In the fall of 1898, Alex Findlay laid out the first nine holes on the property before Tom Winton developed the Club’s first 18-hole routing in 1919. Over the ensuing century, the course and routing remained intact, a credit to Winton’s work. In 2015, the Club began development of a Golf Course Masterplan, under the direction of Kyle Franz and with consultation from Brad Faxon and Gil Hanse. The Club embarked on that Masterplan and broke ground in September of 2023. The golf course was then reopened to the membership during Memorial Day Weekend of 2024. The 6200-yard layout sits atop a glacial moraine, atypical of most seaside courses, resulting in undulating and challenging terrain.
Mission: Woods Hole Golf Club was formed in 1899 for the purpose of promoting golf and other sports. The Club continues that mission by providing the highest quality social and recreational experience in a congenial seaside environment.
