The Head Golf Professional holds responsibility for the overall golf administration including daily golf operations, staff performance, event promotion and management, merchandising operations, teaching, and coaching junior golf programs. As a key member of the Club and Resort Management Team, the Head Golf Professional is accountable for the results in the areas of financial performance, member/guest engagement, and support staff experiences.
Promotes the game of golf at Whitetail Club, in the community and spreads enthusiasm and goodwill amongst employees, members, and guests.
Promotes the Club to facilitate membership sales.
Establishes short- and long-term goals, tactfully enforces club policies and maintains standard operating procedures.
Recruits, hires and trains quality staff in the golf operation.
Prepares annual review of financials, rates, rules and regulations for the golf operation.
Prepares annual budgets and prepares monthly reviews of the golf operation.
Plans and organizes a 2-year calendar including club, lodge and outside events to promote our golf program, Whitetail Club and the resort.
Prepares guidelines and executes programs in the areas of:
Merchandising
Service
Tournaments and Activities
Adult and Junior Instruction
Golf Equipment Maintenance
Attends meetings and provides expertise to appropriate in-house committees.
Works closely with the Director of Whitetail Club and Superintendent to strive for excellence in the golf operation.
Participates in writing monthly newsletters to members and prospective members.
Supervises golf staff including:
Assistant Golf Professional
Golf Intern Services Personnel
Golf Shop and Outside Golf Services Personnel
Play golf regularly with our members and work hard on their own game.
Achieves merchandising profitability with an understanding of cost/profit metrics.
Organizes and supervises all recreational activities associated with golf operations.
Coordinates golf trips for members and prospective members.
Stays current with PGA and continually researches new ideas for the golf shop operation.
Dresses appropriately and presents a positive and professional image towards the membership and community.
Manages all golf employees to always be consistent with appearance, service, and overall golf operation performance.
Provides and enforces Golf Operations Handbook for guidelines and training.
Provides and enforces Golf Shop Merchandise Policies for merchandising goals.
Runs a successful Junior Sports Program continually attracting new players into the program.
Provides a successful teaching program for all players (to include Trackman training).
Works well with others and develops programs to motivate staff to excel. Be a positive collaborator on all levels.
Helps create and maintain Club traditions to establish a community within the Club.
Continually trains and educates staff to be knowledgeable and informed on club events and activities.
Provides good leadership in management.
Provides clear and accurate monthly and yearly analysis of golf shop operations.
Achieves goals set in financial and service areas of operation.
Helps attract new members to join the club and coordinates new members into club activities.
All other duties as assigned.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Current PGA Member with experience in all areas of successfully managing private golf clubs of this caliber.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or comparable preferred.
5 years experience in private golf club operations is preferred.
Demonstrated team-building experience.
Excellent people, follow-up, and time management abilities coupled with clear and concise written and verbal skills.
Ability to sell concepts and ideas to peers and ownership.
Ability to effectively create and manage budgets.
Prior proven event promotion and management skills.
Golf Instruction and Golf Club Fitting Knowledge.
Strong MS Office, database knowledge, and experience using POS, Online reservations systems, e-mail, and member-type portals.
Software and Computer Skills Needed:

POS Experience (Currently using V1 Golf Pro POS)

Salary:
Base range of $105,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
Additional income: Up to $10,000 in annual performance incentive bonus
Instruction income: Professional to receive 100% of instruction revenue
