Located on Wilson Lake, Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club offers 18 holes of world-class golf, a marina, and family-centered activities including aquatics, tennis, dining, and social events.
Turtle Point welcomes players of every age to our Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed 18-hole golf course. The clubhouse includes five dining rooms, private men's and ladies' lounges, two bars, private meeting rooms, and two upper and lower outdoor verandas. Both casual and formal dining options are offered with seasonal brunch, lunch, and dinner menus. The dining experience at Turtle Point includes special theme dinners and social events.
History
In 1961, George McBurney was elected Turtle Point’s first president and under his leadership the construction of the clubhouse, marina, golf course, and first tennis court were begun. World-renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, Sr., was contacted to design the course layout.
On December 17, 1961, Turtle Point hosted its clubhouse Grand Opening party.
Since its grand opening 60 years ago, Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club has grown to over 600 members. The growing success of the club has afforded it the opportunity to host many prestigious events, including an evening with The Glenn Miller Band in 1974, the Jack Nicklaus Golf Exhibition in 1979, and the 18th Annual Southeastern Women's Amateur Team Championship in 2010. The golf course has been the host site of the SEC Championship, the State Amateur Championship, Southern Amateur, and other notable events
Dining
Experience waterfront dining with an elevated atmosphere, and exceptional food and service. The restaurant is open for weekend brunch, daily lunch and dinner with live music on select nights throughout the summer. Whether dining with us after a round of golf or enjoying a business lunch or cozy dinner for two, members and their guests will always delight in a memorable dining experience at our Club. There is something for everyone on our menu, which features Southern-inspired New American cuisine.
The pool area, when in operation from late May to early September, has a staff entirely devoted to serving meals and drinks poolside.
Large social gatherings, seasonal happenings, and wonderful holiday events enhance the excellent membership experience provided to our members.
Golf
Turtle Point has consistently been awarded for offering one of the top-rated golf courses in the state of Alabama. Our championship golf course was designed by world renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The course is known for its natural topography, challenging layout, and inspiring holes.
Tennis
Our tennis facility includes 6 hard courts, a full-service tennis shop, and a professional staff who can help your game get to the next level.
Aquatics
Relax and escape the Alabama summer sun in our brand new, $2mil pool, that overlooks Wilson Lake. The Club host various aquatic exercise classes and cornhole tournaments. Members can host private birthday parties, enjoy social events like Hawaiian luau parties, "dive-in" movie nights and more!
Marina
Our marina, located on the east side of the Clubhouse, offers a safe harbor to all types of watercraft.

The Head Professional, under the supervision and direction of the General Manager/COO, administers a complete golfing activity program that provides an exceptional level of service to the membership, their guests, and prospective members while ensuring the policies and best interest of the Club are met and protected.
The ideal candidate will have had a progressive career path with a proven record of providing outstanding service at the highest possible level. The candidate will be a professional with an excellent reputation with their current membership and within the PGA of America. This individual will be a visible and accessible professional who takes a hands-on approach to creating and overseeing daily golf activities at the club.
The Head Golf Professional will report directly to and is supervised by the General Manager and will work as a member of the Golf Committee, and the Greens Committee
Always provide outstanding service to members and guests.
Plan, promote and direct all golf operations and activities.
Develop an annual business plan for the golf operation and prepare the annual golf budget.
Manage the merchandising plan for the golf shop and provide the best selection possible.
Play an appropriate amount of golf with members of all skill levels to generate enthusiasm in the golf program.
Conduct golf lessons, clinics, and golf development programs for all member segments.
Plan, organize and conduct a yearly golf program and tournament schedule for all member programs
Select, supervise, train, and evaluate golf shop and outside golf operations personnel.
Assist in the orientation of new members into the golf program and the Club.
Responsible for the orientation and training of all newly hired personnel and the creation of a training program for all staff. Consistently work with the staff daily to improve service to the membership.
Maintain a close working relationship and meet regularly with the Golf Course Superintendent to discuss maintenance issues that affect the practice facility and play-ability of the golf course.
Always set the example and ensure all staff adheres to the vision and mission statements and represents Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club's core values.
Work with architects and designers to provide insight throughout construction of all future golf facilities and to ensure the tradition and history of the golf course is kept intact
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
All candidates must be a Class “A” member of the PGA of America and it is preferred that the candidates possess a bachelor’s degree. In addition, candidates should possess experience at a club similar to Turtle Point Y&CC, either as a Head Golf Professional or Assistant Golf Professional. The Club has identified the following personal traits they believe the next Head Golf Professional will need to possess to be successful.

Salary ranges from $85,000 to $105,000 based on experience and professional qualifications.
Total Compensation up to $125,000
