Title: Head Golf Professional
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Assistant Professionals and Outside Operations team
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional is responsible for the promotion of the Club and the dissemination of hospitality, friendliness, and goodwill among the members and guests. His/her goal is to ensure that the members and their guests are provided with an excellent golf experience.
The Head Golf Professional will assist in the implementation of the Club policies established by the General Manager and the By-Laws of the Club. He/she works closely with the General Manager, Superintendent, and Club Controller in the development of Club policies, programs, tournaments, and events. The Head Golf Professional will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining standard operating procedures for the entire golf operation and will serve as a liaison between the Club members and employees.
The Head Golf Professional is the true leader of the golf operations and has full responsibility of the day-to-day activities and is expected to provide daily operational leadership to the employees. The Head Golf Professional is responsible for ensuring that the operations are managed to the expectations of the owner and membership, including outside operations, range and practice areas, retail shop and services, tournaments, events, and guest and member play.
The Head Golf Professional will provide visible leadership and will represent the management team and membership relative to golf events and activity programming consistent with the vision/mission of the Club. The Head Golf Professional is clearly the ambassador of the Club and its golf operations. As such, he/she is expected to be proactive, visible, and committed to promoting unrivaled tradition and service excellence in their interaction with the community, membership, and staff at all times.
Providing an excellent golf experience and amenities consistent with such is the primary driver for member recruitment, retention, and satisfaction. Therefore, it is critical that the Head Golf Professional provide leadership in developing, communicating, and executing an operational plan for success. Active involvement with the various women, men, and junior golf groups is paramount to long-term success. The Head Golf Professional’s management philosophy, service mentality, and passion for excellence must be clearly communicated through his/her daily actions.
The Woodcreek Club is well-suited for an up-and-coming Professional but requires a well-balanced and exceptional professional with strong personal and managerial skills.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
A college degree, preferably in Business Administration or Golf Management. A minimum of five years of specific industry experience at a respected high-end multi-course resort/private club.
A record of working closely and successfully for a member-owned or developer-owned Club with a GM organizational model.
A professional career track record unblemished by inappropriate behavior of any sort and has demonstrated a record of employment stability, tenure, and commitment to previous employers.
Knowledge in the "best practices" of top performing, high member satisfaction private golf operations.
Exceptional team-building skills and ability to sustain a culture of service excellence.
An overriding desire to instill quality into every part of the club's golf operation, including the staff.
Strong organizational skills with an obsession for tending to the details necessary to consistently achieve high levels of quality, satisfaction, and an outstanding member experience.
A sharp eye for detail and the ability to follow up on the overall management of the golf operation, especially in the outside services, member and guest course access, and golf shop retail areas.
Recognized interest in being highly interactive with the women, men, and junior golfers and programs at his/her current Club and actively participates with all groups on a regular basis. Available to give lessons as requested to women, men, and juniors.
Exceptionally strong emcee, communication, and facilitation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to positively represent the golf operations before a wide variety of groups such as members, community leaders, employees, and suppliers.
A positive upbeat attitude combined with a sense of humor.
Familiarity with Golf Genius, POS, online tee time systems, and golf cart fleet GPS systems.
