Title: Head Golf Professional (Year-Round)
Reports to: Director of Golf
Supervises: Assistant Golf Professionals, Interns, Seasonal Staff
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional is responsible for assisting the Director of Golf in the overall management and operation of the golf program. This individual will play a key leadership role in delivering a consistently exceptional golf experience through the supervision of daily operations, member relations, staff development, merchandising, and instruction. The position requires a poised, organized, and highly professional individual who has a great passion for the game of golf and their career as a PGA professional.
Leadership and Staff Development
Assist the Director of Golf in leading, training, and mentoring the professional staff, golf shop personnel, and outside services team.
Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and respect throughout the golf operation.
Oversee staff scheduling, quality management, and ongoing professional development.
Member and Guest Services
Maintain the highest standards of hospitality and service in all areas of the golf operation.
Engage actively with members and guests to enhance their experience and foster long-term relationships.
Ensure that all facilities, including the golf shop and practice areas, are presented to the highest standards.
Golf Operations Management
Supervise daily play, tee sheet management, pace of play, and enforcement of club policies
Oversee merchandising operations, including buying, inventory management, and display presentation.
Ensure smooth coordination of daily operations with other departments of the Club.
Provide private and group instruction for members and guests across all skill levels.
Support the development of structured player programs, including junior, women’s, and men’s instruction.
Maintain a current understanding of golf instruction technology and trends.
Tournaments and Events
Assist the Director of Golf in planning and executing the club’s tournament and event calendar.
Oversee tournament preparation, rules, scoring, and awards presentations.
Ensure that all events are conducted with the highest level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Administration and Communication
Contribute to the preparation of budgets, reports, and operational plans.
Maintain accurate records related to lessons, sales, and tournament results.
Communicate effectively with the membership, management, and staff regarding golf operations and programs.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Class A PGA Member in good standing.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience at a private club or golf facility of comparable quality.
Demonstrated leadership and staff management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a member-first approach.
Proven teaching expertise supported by current instructional technology.
Proficiency in golf operations software (e.g., ForeTees, Golf Genius, Jonas).
Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and commitment to service excellence.
The club will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
