Title: Director of Instruction
Reports to: Director of Golf
Position Description: The Stanwich Club is creating a new position for a dynamic, highly skilled, and personable Director of Instruction and Player Development to lead all aspects of our instructional programming. This individual will design, implement, and oversee innovative instructional programs for golfers of all skill levels—men, women, and juniors—while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and enjoyment of the game of golf. This individual should be a self-starter who provides outstanding golf instruction to all skill levels. Additionally, the DOI will work hand in hand with the entire staff to enhance the instruction program.
Develop and execute a comprehensive instruction and player development program.
Provide private and group instruction using the latest in teaching technology (e.g., GCQuad, FullSwing, Trackman, V1 video analysis).
Collaborate with the Director of Golf and Golf Professional staff to integrate instruction into the broader golf experience.
Lead junior golf development programs, clinics, and camps to encourage youth engagement and skill progression. (SNAG Golf, Operation 36)
Customize player development plans for competitive golfers, including high-level juniors and low-handicap adults.
Conduct regular golf schools, clinics, and member engagement events throughout the year.
Maintain a strong presence on the practice facilities and course, supporting member relationships and on-course instruction.
Oversee instructional technology, ensuring equipment is current, functional, and effectively used.
Recruit, mentor, and manage any seasonal instruction staff or interns as needed.
Promote and uphold the traditions and culture of The Stanwich Club at all times.
Will assist in elevating the knowledge and skills of assistant professionals and fellow staff.
Maintain a high level of playing ability and represent the Club in Local and Section events.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
PGA Class A or LPGA certified professional with a strong background in instruction.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership or senior teaching role at a high-end private club or academy.
Deep knowledge of modern teaching technologies and analytics-based instruction.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism.
Proven track record of successful player development at all levels.
Energetic, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering best-in-class member experiences.
Familiarity with the expectations and service standards of a premier private club environment.
Certifications in TPI, Trackman, Aimpoint, etc., preferred
Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with members and staff.
