Title: Membership Manager
Reports to: Director of Club Operations
Supervises: Fitness Instructors, Clubhouse Attendants
Position Description: This position is responsible for the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, execution of programs, projects, and activities designed to increase and retain Membership within the Club, as well as promote a positive facility image overall. In addition, this position will collaborate with various departments on the design and implementation of programs and events that will increase member golf rounds played and maximize member golf and food and beverage revenues. General responsibilities include the implementation of various strategies including direct and/or telephone sales, direct marketing communications, advertising, special event promotions, public relations, media relations, and community & client relations, etc.
Coordinate the development of member activities and events for the club.
Track the ROI and member engagement performance of all membership amenities and events.
Develop and conduct an orientation program for new members
Meet with or reach out to each member over a 12-month period to review concerns and feedback. Provide information to the Club Director and develop corrective action plans as needed
Assist with day-to-day supervision of Membership Service Areas (Lounge, Fitness Center, Tennis, Pool, etc.)
Evaluate and correct day-to-day membership issues
Regulate the Membership Rules & Regulations
Promote and communicate club activities using newsletters, direct mail, e-mail, and bulletin boards
Plan and implement strategies to meet the Club’s membership and annual budget goals
Maintain the Club’s database of member information. Administer all membership changes, additions, and deletions
Organize and supervise the distribution of the annual membership directory and annual member survey
Review the monthly audit of member dues and fee payments prepared by the accounting department
Manage and maintain the member website, electronic newsletters, social media outlets, and support the creation and maintenance of the customer database
Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary, and related marketing and sales reports as required.
Cross-train other key golf staff members regarding the general sales process and important components as appropriate to facilitate the overall success of the team
Conduct periodic market research to provide information essential for revising current programs, which enhance the Club’s competitiveness in the marketplace
Manage the Locker Room Supply Inventory & Expenses in accordance with the annual budget
MEMBERSHIP SALES RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement strategies to meet the Club’s membership and annual budget goals
Conduct tours for prospective members
Utilize telemarketing, direct mail, referral programs and other methods to prospect for potential members
Supervise prospective member credit checks and review all applications for membership
Organize and conduct prospective member functions
Organize the production of membership kits, brochures and promotional letters for sales calls, blitzes, direct mail and membership retention programs
Work with the marketing department and/or outside agencies to create appropriate and consistent advertising and sales material/messages consistent with the overall branding strategy
Review and analyze internal and external market information, which reflects customer purchase, usage, and satisfaction with Company products and services. Monitor and track results of marketing and sales efforts, analyze budget variances and recommend revised action plans to achieve budgeted goals
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a golf/resort environment with hands-on knowledge of membership programming and service
College degree or equivalent experience
Clear understanding of country club service
Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations
Good communication and interpersonal skills (must work well in a team environment)
Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required, including nights/weekends
Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Suite products
Experience with Jonas Club Management or the ability to learn club management software
Must be able to meet deadlines as required

Possession of a valid California driver’s license
Work Conditions
Primarily inside work within an office environment requiring sitting (for up to 8 hours per day), standing, bending, talking, listening, using manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
Outside exposure related to travel between on-site property buildings and participation in outdoor events
Non-smoking environment inside property buildings. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

The club will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base Salary: $72,000 - $82,000 + Membership Sales Commissions
Total Anticipated Compensation: $102,000+
