Cornwall, NY | Storm King Golf Club is unlike anything you’ve ever played. It’s a private, 63-acre golf sanctuary in Cornwall, New York—just 56 miles from New York City and surrounded by the majestic views of Storm King Mountain and the Catskills. It’s a place where thoughtful architecture, purpose-driven design, and modern sustainability come together to create something entirely new: Golf Re-imagined™. The golf course is expected to open fully in October 2026.
With five distinct nine-hole routings, 225,000 square feet of greens (including one quad green, two triple, three double, and four single greens), and 40 multi-directional tee locations, Storm King is more than a course—it’s a configurable golf experience with over 50 unique golf holes. Overlayed on top of it all is a 19-hole par-3 layout for shorter, sharper play or a fun challenge with friends. Storm King is introducing a 12-hole driveable par-4 layout and a 9-hole par-5 layout. Everything great about golf is at Storm King.
How Storm King Is Changing the Game in Agronomy
At Storm King Golf Club, sustainability isn’t a buzzword — it’s a blueprint. Located on just 63 acres in Cornwall, NY, Storm King is a golf course that challenges long-held assumptions about what a world-class experience requires. Instead of sprawling across 150+ acres, Storm King shows what’s possible when design, technology, and purpose come together in a smaller footprint — delivering a dynamic golf experience while dramatically reducing environmental impact.
Less Land, More Golf
Storm King’s secret weapon is how much we do with so little land. Thanks to over 50 unique golf holes, five 9-hole routings, and over 40 multi-directional tee locations, our 63-acre footprint delivers an incredible variety of play. This approach proves that a smaller, smarter course can deliver greater flexibility, lower water use, reduced maintenance, and a smaller environmental impact — without sacrificing fun, beauty, or challenge.

Title: Golf Course Superintendent
Reports to: Director of Golf
Position Description: The successful candidate will embrace the vision created at Storm King on how agronomy at elite clubs will be managed. Automowers, electric vs. fuel, and precision spraying with gps and drones are just the beginning.
Smarter Turf Management with Automowers
One of the most visible signs of our commitment is in the hum — or lack thereof — of 23 Husqvarna automowers gliding silently across tees, fairways, roughs, and green surrounds. These robotic mowers operate 24/7 with minimal noise and zero emissions. They require no fuel, produce minimal clippings to dispose of, and leave turf healthier with every pass thanks to ultra-frequent, micro-cut mowing. This consistency not only enhances the playability and beauty of the course — it eliminates the need for large ride-on mowers and the labor, emissions, and storage footprint they require.
Electrifying Our Operations
Where traditional courses rely heavily on gas-powered equipment, Storm King is going electric. Our greens are maintained with Jacobsen electric triplexes and Toro walk-behind electric mowers, reducing noise and emissions while maintaining the precision standards of championship golf. Nearly 80% of our utility carts are electric — and we're on track for a full conversion. That’s not just a savings in fuel; it’s a rethinking of how golf operations can function more cleanly and efficiently.
Precision Spraying with GPS and Drones
Spraying is another area where technology and sustainability intersect. Rather than rely on manual or broad-based coverage, we use a Smithco GPS sprayer in partnership with Harrell’s to deliver nutrients and treatments with unmatched precision — targeting only what’s needed, where it’s needed. For native grasses and hard-to-reach areas, we partner with Hawkeye Spray Drones, who allow us to care for the course with even less disruption to turf, soil, and wildlife. The result? Healthier ecosystems, less runoff, and smarter use of resources.
