Title: Assistant Golf Professional
Reports to: Director of Golf
Position Description: The Assistant Professional will collaborate with the Director of Golf and Head Professional in supervising, overseeing outside operations, coordinating staff schedules, tournament operations, retail operations, and Member services.
Develop, coordinate and execute all tournament operations and activities including sign-up sheets, pairings, scorecards, format sheets, program booklets, scoreboards and all other functions related to tournament activities.
Teaching Responsibilities: Dependent on the PGA Classification (Class A Professional can teach all levels)
Jr. Clinics
Beginner Clinics
Ladies Clinics
Holiday Clinics
Work with the retail staff to administer and develop under specific guidelines given, all aspects of the retail operations, regarding scheduling staff, ordering and receiving, display and inventory of hard goods.
Assist and help as directed regarding the sale of all merchandise in the Golf Shop.
Assist and administer as directed by the Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional in the following areas:
Demo Day Promotions
All Demo Club Programs
Play with Members as scheduled
Takes the initiative in overseeing, supervising, and training Rangers and Bag Room Personnel
Must be a Registered Apprentice with the PGA of America.
Must be a highly service-oriented individual with knowledge and demonstrated ability, along with the desire to become Class A, PGA Golf Professional.
Must have knowledge of basic computer functions and become fluent in the following software programs:
Tournament software programs
Handicap/GHIN system
Retail POS systems
Microsoft applications
Develop skills in our graphics software
Physical Requirements include: Playing golf, handling and lifting golf bags, clubs, boxes, bending over crouching, etc. along with the demands of some extended work day hours for special events and the stress of some very active business situations. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Required Class A status as a PGA Golf Professional. The Class A, or above Status with the PGA must be maintained. This includes but is not limited to attending any seminars or workshops as necessary to meet this criterion. These seminars should be done in the off season as much as possible, so time away doesn’t affect season work schedules.
The club will provide a budget for such requirements and reimburse the Head Professional for reasonable expenses incurred with approval of the General Manager.
Must understand the seasonality of the South Florida market.
Must be an excellent communicator both verbally and in written format.
Will anticipate members and guests needs
Comfortable in high-volume situations and able to effectively prioritize responsibilities.
Is an excellent team member with a positive and engaging personality
