Title: Director of Junior Golf
Reports to: Director of Business Operations
The STPGA Junior Golf Program continues to grow each year and is one of the largest Junior Golf Programs in the country with over 4,500 members aged 6-18 and 500+ events annually. This level of output and customer service requires the Director of Junior Golf to be a leader who is passionate about growing the game and being highly focused on ensuring each element of the program is first class! We are looking for an individual who is forward-thinking by nature, delights in the small details, and strives to coordinate with their team to best serve our junior golfers, their families, and the organization.
The Director of Junior Golf would be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the first four (4) steps of the STPGA Junior Golf Journey. Through this, the position would be primarily focused on programmatic duties and oversight of the Junior Golf Program as a whole, with 80% of the job being dedicated to the administrative pursuit and 20% dedicated to conducting events on-site such as our three (3) Series Championships, Texas Junior Cup Matches, Drive, Chip, and Putt, PGA Jr League Postseason, and general support at the 500+ events.
This position would be directly responsible for overseeing a Junior Golf Coordinator, a PGA WORKS Fellow, 15 Area Directors, and over 100+ Area Staff Members. We are looking for someone who communicates effectively and can lead this large team of both people in the office and remotely.

Programmatic Oversight
The STPGA Junior Golf Program has a robust schedule of over 500+ events that are conducted from January through December through three (3) different seasons. The Director of Junior Golf will be responsible for working directly with the Junior Golf Coordinator and PGA WORKS Fellow towards strategically assembling this schedule and coordinating with host facilities.
This position will be directly responsible for building the STPGA Junior Golf Schedule in BlueGolf and conducting daily checks of the information provided on the Tournament Information Pages, approving entries into events, and filling fields based on waitlists.
The Director of Junior Golf should always have an eye on the 10,000-foot view and the future of the Program.
Reviewing and knowing the Junior Golf Rules & Regulations of Southern Texas PGA will be critical to ensure the program is always growing and adapting to market needs.
Ensuring consistency throughout the 7 metro areas and that all Rules and Regulations are being applied correctly with our 15 Area Directors and 100 Area Staff Members.
Staffing
This position would be responsible for recruiting new Area Directors when necessary, creating a succession plan for Area Director turnover, and managing the onboarding process of our Area Directors and Area Staff.
This position will coordinate with Area Directors to ensure that all events, regardless of metro area, are properly staffed and help problem-solve when there are holes in the schedule.
The Director of Junior golf will be responsible for creating a training plan for all new Area Directors and Area Staff members to ensure that our field staff are representing the STPGA in the best light and are prepared for the many intricacies of junior golf tournament operations.
This position will conduct weekly meetings within the department to ensure that department goals are being accomplished and create an open team environment to share ideas and ask for assistance where needed.
Programmatic Consistency
The Director of Junior Golf will work closely with the Area Directions in each of our metro areas to ensure consistency in STPGA tournament programming, regardless of where in the Section the tournament is taking place.
This includes but is not limited to, pre-tournament facility phone calls, infrastructure setup, starting methods, pairing methods, course setup, rulings, pace of play management, etc.
The Director of Junior Golf will visit each metro at minimum one (1) time per year to be on-site for the conduction of an event to ensure that standards are being upheld.
Marketing and Promotion
The Director of Junior Golf will be the champion of the STPGA Junior Golf Program with the mindset of always promoting. This includes but is not limited to, proofing and making additions to the Weekly Newsletter, providing ideas and insight to what should be posted on social channels, creating relationships with PGA Professionals to promote on a grassroots level, ensuring that stpgajuniorgolf.com positively reflects our organization and stays current with the information portrayed. These efforts are supported by our Communication Department of 2 Full-Time Employees.
This position will also perform market research and analysis on allied and competing junior golf organizations within our geographic region.
Financial Management and Tracking
The Director of Junior Golf will coordinate with the department towards the goal of ensuring that internal financial tracking documents always remain up to date. This includes weekly follow-ups with facilities to ensure that invoices are being received and paid, updating the Master Junior Golf Financial tracking document, and assisting with the creation of the overall Junior Golf Budget.
This position will also be responsible for tracking and communicating all analytics surrounding the Junior Golf Program, including participation, membership, year-over-year comparisons, etc.
Championships
The Director of Junior Golf will be responsible for the successful conduction of the Spring Championship, STPGA Junior Championship, and Fall Championship. These are our point list qualifying Championships and a driving force for much of our junior golf participation.
This position will also be responsible for serving as the Advance Official for the Texas Junior Cup Matches, one of the four Ryder Cup-style events that are contested against the Northern Texas PGA.
Organizational Relationships
The Southern Texas PGA has developed amazing relationships with several outside organizations to provide unforgettable experiences for our Junior Golfers. The Director of Junior Golf would be responsible for coordinating with these organizations and maintaining the relationships. These organizations include, but are not limited to, the Insperity Junior Pro-Am, Optimist Championship, and Northern Texas PGA.
The Director of Junior Golf will be the Advance Official for the Insperity Junior Pro-Am which is run in conjunction with the Insperity Invitation Tournament team. This will require outlying qualifications guidelines, pre-event player communication, and day-of-event logistics.
Player Development Program Support
The Director of Junior Golf will provide support to the Junior Golf Coordinator in the administration of Drive, Chip, and Putt. It is expected that this position will have a great understanding of DCP and work with the Junior Golf Coordinator on high-level areas that include but are not limited to, scheduling, staffing, financials, and program administration.
The Director of Junior Golf will provide support to the Junior Golf Coordinator in the administration of the PGA Junior League. It is expected that this position will have a great understanding of PGAJL and work with the Junior Golf Coordinator on high-level areas that include but are not limited to, scheduling, staffing, financials, and program administration. This will also include PGA Member communication regarding program updates and important dates.

Knowledge of the BlueGolf tournament software is preferred.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
Ability and willingness to travel frequently within the geographic boundaries of the Southern Texas PGA
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite of products and Google products.
Experience in golf tournament administration and operations
Knowledge of the Rules of Golf and its decisions
Work schedule includes frequent weekends and some holidays.
Ability to light 50 pounds, drive a truck with a trailer, and work outside in hot conditions.
Overall understanding of the game of golf, the PGA of America, and PGA Professionals

The Southern Texas PGA will provide a high-level competitive salary for our next Director of Junior Golf commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Compensation: Package is expected to be $70,000 to $80,000
