Title: Head Golf Professional
Reports to: Shoreland Country Club is owned by 185 shareholders and overseen by a nine-member Board of Directors elected by the shareholders. The Head Golf Professional reports directly to the Board President.
Supervises: Teaching Professionals, Golf Shop Assistants, Outside Operations Staff
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional will direct all aspects of the golf operations, managing activities and relationships with members, guests, and staff. The primary goal is to ensure a premium golf experience by offering exceptional golfing programs. Detailed responsibilities are outlined below.
Oversee and manage member and guest play from the first tee, ensuring adherence to club rules and scheduling.
Advocate and enhance the game to members and guests by developing and promoting both new and existing programs.
Plan, market, and oversee all golf activities, ensuring efficient daily operations and staff management.
Actively involve members and guests in various golf operations activities throughout the clubhouse and course.
Coordinate and run club tournaments and continuously improve golf leagues and clinics.
Manage the orientation program for new golf members.
Regularly interact with different member groups by playing, teaching, and coaching golf, focusing on the needs of both competitive and recreational golfers.
Develop and manage the annual and monthly budgets for golf operations, making adjustments as needed to achieve budget goals.
Maintain accurate daily accounting and billing records for guests, carts, golf events, and merchandise sales.
Contribute to the planning and development of both short-term and long-term improvements to club facilities and golf courses.
Assist in planning and managing budgets for golf operations and capital projects annually.
Participate in leadership and team meetings.
Mentor and onboard staff, promoting continuous training and development opportunities to enhance performance within the team and overall operations.
Provide insights and feedback at Board meetings to foster the growth of golf and increase member enjoyment.
Liaise daily with department heads to ensure superior member satisfaction.
Maintain standards and precision for handicaps, rules, course markings, conditions, and communications to members, both online and in the Clubhouse.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
PGA Member or PGA Associate
Work Experience:
Three years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional, Head Golf Professional or Director of Golf
Experience managing golf operations, including overseeing the golf shop, staff, and events, leagues, and tournaments
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Customer Service Skills: Strong skills in customer service and communication are crucial, as the role involves significant interaction with club members and guests.
Business Acumen: Experience with budgeting, financial planning, and sales, especially related to pro shop merchandise and services.
Teaching Experience: Skills in instructing players of all levels and running golf clinics or training sessions are often required.
Proficiency in Golf Management and Retail Systems: Skilled in utilizing golf management software (such as Golf Genius, ForeTees, or Club Prophet), POS systems, and data analysis tools for effective operational and financial management, as well as managing tee times, tournaments, and member services.
The club will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base Compensation $55,000- $65,000
Total Compensation up to $80,000
