Title: General Manager / Head Golf Professional
Reports to: Shoreland Country Club is owned by 185 shareholders and overseen by a nine-member Board of Directors elected by the shareholders. The General Manager/Head Professional (GM/HP) reports directly to the Board President.
Supervises: All Staff
Position Description: The GM/HP will oversee all facets of the facility, managing its operations, activities, and relationships with stockholders, members, patrons, employees, the community, and government entities. The primary goal is to ensure a premium golf experience for members and patrons by providing exceptional golfing programs and services. Detailed responsibilities are outlined below.
Create an outstanding daily experience for members and guests, fostering a friendly and welcoming environment.
Manage and oversee the entire facility, including golf course operations, maintenance, and the restaurant and bar areas.
Handle golf shop management, with potential ownership of the shop.
Coordinate and manage club communications.
Provide financial oversight of the club budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Drive golf membership, and wedding/banquet sales and growth.
Collaborate with department heads to supervise staffing, conduct team meetings as necessary, and achieve club goals and objectives at the highest level.
Develop and maintain a management philosophy that guides all club personnel towards optimal results and positive employee morale. Act as a "team and culture builder," setting clear goals and bringing out the best in everyone.
Assist in the supervision of the food and beverage and grounds departments through respective department heads.
Support and promote the game of golf for various groups within the golf community, including developing and encouraging participation in new and existing programs.
Have a strong understanding of financial statements, expenses, and margin controls.
Effectively manage daily operations and have a strong understanding of golf course structure and management.
Develop a vision and marketing/sales plan and oversee its implementation.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
A minimum of five years of golf course managerial experience.
Class A PGA Member status is preferred.
Proficiency in all aspects of club operations, including food and beverage services and golf course management, is preferred.
College Degree is preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including being optimistic, respectful, honest, trustworthy, reliable, organized, decisive, able to delegate, an effective communicator and listener, open to diverse ideas, and capable of following through.
A progressive career path with a proven track record of delivering outstanding service at the highest level.
Capability in managing budgets and financial forecasting, with a strong understanding of the facility's fiscal dynamics.
The club will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base Compensation $85,000
Total Compensation up to $125,000
