The General Manager works directly with the Board of Directors to ensure priorities of Shadow Hills CC are maintained.
Responsible for coordinating with department managers concerning all personnel functions, including hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, counseling, record keeping, creating/updating job descriptions, scheduling, and other functions as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the club.
Develops/revises/updates policies and procedures as necessary to ensure effective safe and legal operation of the club.
Coordinates with Golf Course Superintendent to ensure appropriate maintenance of facility without disruption of services to members and customers.
Oversees Golf Pro Shop operation, ensuring the appropriate ordering, merchandising, pricing, preparation, and staffing to provide quality service and profitability.
Oversees Food and Beverage operation, ensuring appropriate ordering, pricing, preparation, and staffing to provide quality service and profitability.
Responsible for the annual operating budgets for all departments.
Develops strategic management plans for Shadow Hills Country Club.
Responsible for developing the clubs marketing strategic plan.
Attends all committee meetings, with limited exceptions.
Prepares monthly P & L variance reports for the finance committee.
Maintains high level of confidentiality.
Maintain records on behalf of the board and committee members to ensure efficient club operations.
Develops annual forecasts for expenses and income, tracing information for periodic performance reports, developing projections for activities or events, and other budget related activities as necessary.
Troubleshoots operational problems as necessary to ensure safe operation and continuous high-quality service to members and guests.
Provides performance evaluations to directly supervised employees in a timely manner.
Must be willing and able to work non-traditional schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work week may routinely exceed 40 hours.
Ensures full understanding of and adherence to applicable policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations.
Other duties as assigned by Board of Directors.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS | To be considered for the position of General Manager (GM) the following qualifications are desired:
Four-year college degree preferred. Degree in business management or similar field a plus.
Minimum seven (7) years experience as General Manager or 15+ years of equivalent experience in country club setting.
Must have valid driver’s license and maintain appropriate automobile insurance.
Must have strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Must have excellent time management, planning, listening, phone, and communication skills.
Must be flexible in schedule/hours.
Must have strong ability and skills for conflict resolution.
Must have strong customer service orientation.
Displays positive acceptance of demanding scheduling needs.
Works cooperatively and fosters teamwork by helping co-workers with essential functions.
Must be willing and able to adhere to appearance standards of Shadow Hills Country Club.
Within 30 days of employment obtain each of the following and maintain each throughout employment:
Food handlers’ permit.
Class 12 or 13 liquor permit
CPR certification and first aid training.
Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Certifications
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
Fundamental supervisory practices and principles
Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
Service and customer-focused attitude
Experienced in written and oral business communications
Remains up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies
Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, e.g.,. email, internet, tournament and database
Maintains and promotes a positive professional image within the community
Attends conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends
Remains current on maintenance and instruction techniques and innovations
The base salary range for this position commensurate with qualifications and experience
Annual performance bonus, based on outcomes in relation to predetermined “department measurables” and goals
Health insurance premium paid (medical) for self and family
Offer of participation in the Club’s matching 401(k) plan (up to $2,500 match) upon eligibility after one year
PGA membership or CMAA dues paid when in "good standing"
Vacation, holidays, sick and other paid time off per Club policy
