Sahalee Country Club
Sammamish, WA
General Manager/COO
Sammamish, WA | Sahalee means “high heavenly ground” in the native Chinook language. Our club was originally established on this beautiful site in 1969, inside one of the wealthiest cities in the United States: Sammamish, Washington. Sahalee is known as the premier golf club in the Pacific Northwest. We have consistently been rated amongst the top 100 golf courses in the country, have hosted multiple major championships (the only PNW course to do so) and view ourselves as leaders in the PNW golf community. Socially, Sahalee has evolved into a family-oriented golf club with progressive values. The club is a special place for members to gather for a world-class golf experience, while enjoying delicious dining and fun social activities inside a newly renovated clubhouse.
We are hiring a General Manager (GM) due to the upcoming retirement of our Hall of Fame GM, Marcus King. This role has responsibility for all day-to-day operations of Sahalee and serves as the club’s cultural and business leader. The GM is directly responsible for leading a highly capable senior staff in finance and accounting, human resources, golf operations, food and beverage, course maintenance, facilities, member activities and programs, and brand management. The GM supports each department leader by setting and attaining a high standard of excellence. She or he will be responsible for the creation and implementation of all performance and service standards to ensure a memorable experience for our members, guests, and staff.
The GM is guided by the club’s mission, vision, and core values. She or he will assure that the business of Sahalee is conducted honestly, with transparency and integrity, and in a fiscally prudent manner. Being an active local participant in the Sammamish and private club communities is an important aspect of the GM’s role, as is the role of “ambassador” in the regional and national golf landscape.
Success in the role of General Manager starts with the mindset of a top-100 club operator. Strong business acumen, high emotional intelligence, and exemplary communication skills are a must. This person will be visible and approachable, show a commitment to continuous improvement, and will build upon a world-class environment of member service. The successful GM will be seen as an enthusiastic and accessible culture builder who is generous, gracious, discreet, and builds trust naturally. Members and staff will reflexively smile when the GM enters the room.
