The Philadelphia Section PGA of America is one of 41 geographical sections of the PGA of America. We serve 900 PGA of America professionals and run over 200 events annually, including a junior golf tour with 900 participants. PGA REACH Philadelphia is our 501(c)(3) foundation. We're a small, collaborative team of 12 where everyone contributes across the organization, especially during our busy season from April through October.

Title: Controller
Position Description: We're looking for a Controller to manage day-to-day accounting operations for both the Philadelphia Section and PGA REACH Philadelphia. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you'll oversee financial operations for combined budgets exceeding $2.8 million while working closely with the PGA of America national finance team. This role requires someone who can handle the technical accounting work and also collaborate effectively with department heads and a small team that pitches in wherever needed.
Financial Management & Accounting
Manage daily accounting operations for both the Philadelphia Section (501c6) and PGA REACH Philadelphia (501c3)
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
Coordinate and communicate regularly with the PGA of America national finance team
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance
Assisting with monthly financial reporting to the Board of Directors
Budget & Planning
Support the Executive Director and department heads in the collaborative budget development process
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis
Forecast cash flow needs, particularly during peak event season (April-October)
Payroll & Benefits Administration
Track and reconcile payroll in Workday
Monitor and maintain PTO records and reporting
Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
Systems & Process
Utilize Workday software for financial management and reporting
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
Support audit preparation and coordinate with the PGA of America tax team as needed, as well as external auditors for PGA REACH Philadelphia
Including, but not limited to, the following:
3-5 years of experience as a senior accountant or controller
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
Well-versed with Workday software (or ability to learn quickly)
Proven ability to manage multiple entities or cost centers
Experience working with non-profit organizations or foundations preferred
Strong Excel skills and comfort with financial reporting tools
Excellent communication skills and ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Comfortable working in a small team environment where flexibility and collaboration are essential
Ability to manage increased workload during peak event season (April-October)
The Section will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but not limited to:
Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000

Use of a company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for all work-related travel to and from events.

$1,000 Education/Health and Wellness Stipend 10. PGA dues paid (if applicable)
