The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC) highlights competitive golf programs within the scope of the most under-served and/or underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) in the country. MSIs are defined by the U.S. Department of Education. The total field will be a maximum of 120 players (18 teams and 30 individuals). PGA REACH reserves the right to modify eligibility requirements.
NCAA Annual Exemptions & Withdraws
Please make sure to read the info below regarding participation in one season-ending event (e.g. NCAA Regionals, PWCC, or other). As described in your application, you are required to receive approval from your coach/administration to compete in the PWCC.
NCAA 17.12.5.2 Annual Exemptions
The maximum number of dates of competition in golf shall exclude the following:
(b) Season-Ending Event. Competition in one season-ending event (e.g., NCAA championships). A season-ending event involves competition after the end of the regular season between teams that are not identified until the close of the regular season.
The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship is considered a postseason, season-ending event per NCAA legislation. The exemption for season-ending events legislation applies per student-athlete. Therefore, a student-athlete may exempt the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship as their one season-ending event.
Players and teams are responsible for verifying their eligibility with the NCAA as the PGA of America cannot answer any questions regarding NCAA eligibility. If there are any specific NCAA related eligibility questions that are not answered on this page, please direct your questions to the appropriate NCAA contact through your program's compliance department.
If you are invited to the PWCC and then qualify/plan to compete in a different postseason event (eg., NCAA Regionals or other), please notify the Championship Committee of your withdraw at collegiatechamp@thepga.com within 48 hours so your place in the field can be filled. The Committee does not automatically withdraw participants from the Championship due to postseason events or results. It is the responsibility of the team/individual to inform the committee of a withdraw for any reason or circumstance.
Team Division Eligibility
The field for the Team Division is determined with the following guidelines. The Team Division is open to Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) with NCAA Division I and Division II golf programs. Priority is given to all Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) including but not limited to schools in the SWAC, CIAA, and SIAC Conferences.
