Title: Head Golf Professional
Reports to: Director of Golf Club Operations
Position Description: The Head Golf Professional at Palmetto Bluff’s new Coore-Crenshaw Golf Course will oversee the management of all golf operations and initial F&B at the comfort station until the temporary clubhouse opens. The head golf professional will operate at both a tactical and strategic level, managing and continuously developing all aspects of the golf operations. Responsible for the overall golf experience, creating a vibrant tournament and social calendar, as well as a well-received golf instruction program. Creating and maintaining a consistently high level of member satisfaction and pride in the Golf Club experience are critical.
Job duties include, although are not limited to:
Responsible for hiring, managing, and training of over 24 employees, including Golf Professionals, Golf Shop Assistants, Outside Services, and Men’s Locker Room Services at the highest level of customer service.
Maintain the performance reviews for all team members.
Assist Caddie Manager to ensure the highest quality and service level of the Caddie Program.
Assist by approving caddie program weekly invoices.
Assist payroll with time report edits.
Coordinate staff benefits with Human Resources.
Staff discipline including oral warning, written warnings, suspension, and termination.
Responsible for Training of the golf professional staff, in addition to the oversight of their progress and completion of required PGA Education.
Maintain the inventory and negotiation of pricing for operating supplies, guest supplies, and locker room supplies.
Assist with starting groups on the first tee in order to provide an introduction to the golf course and to ensure proper policies and procedures are carried out with caddies and billing for daily play.
Maintain the golf car fleet to ensure cleanliness and that the maintenance programs are implemented.
Implement tournaments and events, including weekly Men’s and Women’s Games.
Tournament preparation.
Tournament billing.
Scoreboard preparation.
Coordinate with photographer for golf tournaments.
Responsible for golf handicap maintenance.
Golf Lessons (individual and group).
Responsible for coordinating club repair “in house” as well as setting up club repair return authorizations with vendors and maintaining Return Authorization Log.
Responsible for rental set inventory and control.
Work within the approved budgeted expenses (supplies, payroll) while not compromising the service and experience.
Approve and code Guest and Operation Supply invoices.
Plan annual guest supply and operating supply budget.
Review monthly trends for inventory revisions.
Play golf with members: Member trips, Pro-Am Tournaments, and Home and Home matches.
Coordinate Golf Department staff outings.
Maintain radios and implement radio policies and procedures.
Create team building by planning staff outings and events.
Assist in all areas of the operation when needed.
Responsible for all tournament Administration
Uphold and lead by example using the Palmetto Bluff Vision statement.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Golf Club Operations.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
PGA member for at least 6 years
Total of at least 6 years of experience in the golf industry
Experience at high-end private, resort, or developer-owned golf clubs with a history of high-touch service standards.
Strong management experience with high-end club or resort environment
Strong understanding of golf club policies and procedures
Highly ethical
Extremely versatile leader
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
Excellent analytical ability, knowledge in research methods and basic statistics to analyze data and formulate conclusions and action steps from results.
Physical Demands:
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by HVAC and environmental systems.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.
