ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Overall Duties

• Work as directed by the Director of Golf to provide an exceptional golf instruction program for the OCC membership with the goal of being the premier teaching facility in the Omaha area.

• Provide elite-level golf instruction to the OCC membership through private lessons and multiple clinics while developing a consistent student base that demonstrates continual improvement.

• Serve all members of Omaha Country Club with an approachable, respectful, positive demeanor with the intent of developing and nurturing relationships over time.

• Be visible regularly on the practice facility and golf course to engage and develop a rapport with OCC members.

• Participate in tournaments with members on and off premises.

• Stay current and educated on the most up-to-date technologies and teaching practices with the goal of ensuring the OCC Golf Instruction Program is always at the forefront of innovation.

• Recommend the latest golf instructional equipment.

• Work closely with the golf professional staff as a team member, advocate, and mentor.

• Educate, train, and mentor the OCC golf professional staff on best practices, training techniques, and technology to ensure quality and consistent instruction for the OCC Golf Instruction Program.

• Communicate daily, weekly, or as needed with the OCC golf staff, golf course maintenance staff, and general manager regarding instruction schedules and planned events to ensure smooth club operations.

• Promote the OCC Golf Shop through individual club fittings and merchandise sales.

• Engage in continuing education opportunities through meetings, classes, seminars, events, and conferences.

• Represent Omaha Country Club in a professional manner both on and off premises, proudly wearing the OCC logo and always being an advocate for OCC and OCC staff.

• Contribute regularly to OCC member communications via monthly articles in the OCCurrences newsletter and information, photos, and videos through social media.

• Provide consistent, accurate, and reliable communication and assistance to members and OCC staff.

• Manage daily invoicing and financial requirements.

Employment Standards

• Passionate for the game of golf with an inherent ability to teach and introduce techniques to improve the playing skills of each student.

• Service-oriented attitude; understands the importance of being attentive and respectful to members with a willingness to meet and exceed member expectations daily. 

• A sincere desire to be a part of a team environment. Willing to work closely with the golf professional staff to ensure the team’s success by championing, defending, and supporting team goals.

• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations including members and guests, all levels of management, staff, and vendors, providing clear and concise messaging in a timely manner.

• Always interested in improving, never stagnant. 

• Ability to promote Omaha Country Club, yourself, and your brand while adhering to OCC-approved guidelines.

• Be an active member of the Nebraska PGA.

• Must be able to regularly walk 18 holes of golf; demonstrate golf techniques and use of a golf club, bend, squat, climb, reach, and kneel; lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 35 lbs.

• Understands and agrees to abide by the OCC Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drug Policy.

Employment Conditions

• The year-round position will be an integral member of the golf professional team with the successful candidate focused on serving the OCC membership through lessons, clinics, playing golf with members, and participating in OCC-related activities. 

• The Club anticipates a minimum of 1,250 45-60 minute lessons annually.

• Lesson fees will be established by the Director of Golf with input from the Director of Instruction, $125 minimum.

• All lessons will be billed through OCC.

• Any cash payments must be reported for tax purposes by the DOI.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Including, but not limited to, the following:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university.

• Five or more years of experience as an accomplished golf instructor at a distinguished facility.

• Strong playing ability and reputation for professionalism.

• PGA Class A member or LPGA member with the advanced PGA education of Specialized, Certified, or Master Professional status preferred.

• Active Member in the Nebraska PGA.

• Certified in golf instructional technologies such as TPI, Trackman, Aimpoint, and BodiTrak preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
