Palm Springs, CA | The O'Donnell golf course was built by oilman Thomas O'Donnell in the mid-1920s. He designed the course, with its magnificent palm trees, Palo Verdes and tamarisks, and a carpet of Bermuda and rye grasses, which are landmarks to this day.
The entire thirty-three acres of the O’Donnell Golf Club is designated as historic, both locally and by the State of California. The property is also on the National Historic Register of golf courses.
Before his death, Thomas O’Donnell organized the O'Donnell Golf Club as a private, non-profit club in 1944. O'Donnell is the oldest golf course in the Coachella Valley. The course includes nine holes, each with two sets of tees, and is SCGA-rated. Beautiful vistas, impeccable conditions, and challenging golf in a casual, relaxed atmosphere in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, adjacent to the Palm Springs Art Museum, make this a memorable course to play.
The O'Donnell Golf Club has 235 active golf members and 70 social members. Members come from over twenty different states and Canada. Members enjoy a strong community atmosphere. O’Donnell Golf Club quickly became the center of their social life in Palm Springs, in part due to the club not having tee times.
