The Director of Championships & Partnerships plays a key role in delivering first-class championships and cultivating partnerships that create real value beyond logo placement. Title: Director of Championships & Partnerships
Reports to: Executive Director and Director of Operations
Location: Warrensville Heights, OH (with extensive regional travel)
Position Summary: The Director of Championships & Partnerships leads the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all Northern Ohio PGA Section & Junior Golf championships and tournaments while driving revenue through partnerships and fundraising initiatives. This role integrates elite competition operations with strategic business development to enhance member experience, strengthen brand visibility, and support the Section’s long-term financial sustainability. Proudly serving a Section recognized as #1 in Member Satisfaction according to the latest PGA Membership Survey, this position plays a key role in maintaining that standard of excellence.
Working in close collaboration with the Executive Director, staff leadership, Board of Directors, and committees, this position ensures high-quality championship delivery, sponsor fulfillment, and relationship management across the Section.
Section & Junior Golf Championship & Tournament Operations
Direct the coordination, execution, and evaluation of all Section & Junior championships, tournaments, and competitive programs.
Assist in the development and management of the annual tournament calendar.
Administer Section & Junior Golf tournament operations using BlueGolf and other event management platforms.
Track Section & Junior Golf competitive statistics (e.g., Player of the Year), manage points, and process payouts.
Oversee the PGA Playing Ability Tests (PATs).
Enforce Northern Ohio PGA Tournament Rules, Regulations, policies, and procedures for both Section & Junior tour events.
Develop & maintain expert knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf.
Assist in the training, scheduling, and supervision of seasonal tournament officials, rules staff, and volunteers.
Willingness to learn how to tow the tournament trailer
Revenue Generation & Sponsorship Development
Ensure sponsor fulfillment, activation, and recognition are executed with excellence.
Serve as a relationship manager for sponsors, donors, and key stakeholders.
Assist in the design of multi-year sponsorship packages for championships, player development, education, and community initiatives.
Event Support & On-Site Leadership
Oversee Section & Junior Golf sponsor presence at events including signage, hospitality, activations, and VIP engagement.
Deliver pre-event setup, on-site coordination, and assist with post-event communications.
Manage tournament equipment, inventory, and staging resources.
Leadership, Governance & Reporting
Coordinate Tournament Committee operations, including agendas, minutes, and meeting schedules.
Attend Section Board of Directors meetings and provide strategic insight.
Community & Industry Engagement
May represent the Northern Ohio PGA at industry events, corporate meetings, charity outings, and community functions.
Assist in the cultivation of relationships with allied golf organizations, nonprofits, youth programs, and local businesses.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all partnerships and operations comply with PGA of America policies, ethics standards, and financial guidelines.
Support transparent contracting, invoicing, and recognition practices.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Excellent interpersonal skills with a relationship-focused, service-oriented approach.
Experience competing in or administering tournament golf preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms) a plus.
Familiarity with tournament management platforms (BlueGolf, Golf Genius preferred).
Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a year-round operational environment.
Working knowledge of accounting procedures.
Strong judgment, decision-making, and composure under pressure.
Willingness to travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Education & Professional Credentials
Associate degree or equivalent preferred; Bachelor’s degree a plus.
Class A PGA Member or Associate in good standing, USGA Boatwright Intern, or relevant tournament administration experience with a State Golf Association preferred.
Attendance at PGA/USGA Rules of Golf workshops is a plus.
The Section will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but not limited to:
Ranging from $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 depending on experience
PAT Administration Income Potential of $2,400.00
Participation in the annual Bonus Program up to 10% of salary
12 Month Company Vehicle Use, including Car Insurance
Company mobile phone plan participation
Medical, dental, and vision insurance: Employer pays 80%, Employee pays 20%
Retirement plan - Up to 4% Employer Matching
10 Paid Days Vacation in addition to 4 paid holidays per year, plus December 25 to January 1 off each year.
Flex time offered based on work schedule
PGA dues and approved education paid (if applicable)

Physical & Work Environment
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
Ability to travel extensively and work in outdoor conditions.
