The New Jersey Section, PGA of America covers the central and northern part of the State of New Jersey and includes 237 facilities with 429 PGA Members and 107 PGA Associates. Their offices relocated to a brand new office building located on-site at the Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in 2016 which includes individual office space, a conference room, and three state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor hitting bays.
Title: Director; Tournaments and Championships
Position Description: This is a great opportunity to join a proud group of staff members and PGA Professionals that make up the New Jersey PGA family. The Director; Tournaments and Championships will report to the Executive Director and is responsible for the management and administration of the entire tournament program which consists of Assistant Professional Division Committee Events, Weekly Pro-Am Events, Section Major Events as well as events conducted by the NJ Golf Foundation, the charitable arm of the New Jersey Section.
Tournament Management
Create and provide a detailed event budget prior to events and P&L following events
Secure venues for all New Jersey Section tournaments such as Assistant Professional Division evens, Weekly Pro-Am events, and Section Major Championships
Coordinate with all host facilities to set up proper function sheets with all necessary food & beverage services, golf & clubhouse needs as well as pricing for budget purposes
Prepare event registration set up through BlueGolf tournament management system
Prepare all on-site needs such as scorecards, hole location/rule sheets, score sheets (if applicable), sponsor signage, etc.
Serve as lead staff member on-site at all New Jersey Section tournaments
Complete post-event tasks such as awarding Player of the Year points, providing purse breakdown, general website updates, and wrap-up reports
Communicate with the Tournament Chairman from the Board of Directors on a consistent basis
Customer Service
Consistently answer all member requests in a timely manner and provide them with the best possible service.
Understand all Section policies to ensure all requests are within the club policies set forward.
Calculate and distribute professional purse payouts within two business days after the conclusion of each event
Communicate all requests with the Executive Director if unsure of proper procedure.

Additional per-diem tournament staff and collegiate interns are hired to provide additional support to our full-time staff above.
Including, but not limited to, the following:
PGA Professionals in good standing preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the golf industry preferred
PGA Section, PGA of America, or Allied Association experience preferred
A proven track record of strong budgetary and operational management skills with significant experience in recruiting, staffing, and training, as well as overseeing a large operation
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Experienced in written and oral business communications
Energetic individual with superb customer service skills
Experience with tournament management software such as BlueGolf or Golf Genius is strongly preferred
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and work in adverse weather conditions for a long period of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This position must be able to travel for extended periods of time in various modes of transportation.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The Section will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Salary commensurate with experience $56,000 - $65,000/annually
Bonus Income up to $7,000 (includes year-end bonus, employee holiday fund, and PAT income)
Health Insurance Coverage - 100% paid by the employer for the employee (after the applicable waiting period and the employee is responsible for any spouse and/or children they would like to add on to the coverage)
401k available with employer match of 100% up to the first 6% that the employee contributes (after the applicable waiting period)
PGA dues paid, if applicable
15 Days of PTO for first 9 years of employment, 20 days of PTO for years 10+
Travel reimbursement/stipend for work-related travel
Laptop and cell phone provided
Playing and practice privileges at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club, the homesite of the New Jersey PGA
