Needham Golf Club was incorporated in 1923 as a member-owned, private golf course designed by Wayne Stiles. The Club is uniquely situated within the Needham, MA community, offering an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The clubhouse was newly constructed in 2011 and includes a state-of-the-art kitchen facility and gorgeous views of the golf course. The clubhouse has a function room that seats up to 150 people, outdoor ala cart seating, a grill room, the main bar, and a smaller dining area off the grill room. NGC is open ten months a year and has approximately 450 individual golf members and 700 individual members in all categories with a waitlist. Manage all golf and golf-related activities and business including managing the golf shop and driving range, supervising professional staff, enforcing club rules and regulations, overseeing the club’s handicap system, overseeing the Men’s and Women's club tournaments, providing competent golf instruction for all levels of players, supervising the rental and maintenance of golf carts and reporting activities of the department to General Manager/COO.
Golf Operations
Actively works with the golf committees to advise on golf matters and build the calendar or events for the season. Plans, promotes, and directs all golf activities including daily management responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Golf Committee and General Manager, implements and administers a system governing the start of play and the handicap system.
Prepares annual and monthly budgets for golf operations; takes corrective actions as necessary to help ensure that budget goals are attained.
Organizes and conducts club tournaments and related events. Is actively present on-site during men’s, women’s, and junior events throughout the season.
Maintains accurate records through point of sale and tee time systems relating to player and guest rounds and other statistics.
Maintains visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
Professional Staff Management
Supports the Club's Human Resources initiatives and oversees the golf staff
Selects, supervises, trains, and evaluates golf cart maintenance personnel and Golf Pro Shop, golf range, golf bag and club storage employees, and on-course personnel.
Plans bi-annual professional development and training activities for golf staff.
Schedules staff hours to ensure that members are fully served and that labor costs are effectively managed; periodically checks timecards for adherence to posted schedules.
Adheres to all federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and employment. Implements an overall safety program that conforms to OSHA standards for the Golf Department.
Golf Shop Ownership
Responsible for ordering merchandise for golf shop and providing the best selection possible for the membership while ensuring various price points are met.
Maintains attractive, orderly appearance in Golf Pro Shop
Provides for the collection and issuance of all prizes associated with all competitions.
All prizes and favors will be ordered through the Golf Professional with an emphasis on shop credit being preferred.
Playing and Teaching
Provides golf lessons to members and guests.
Plays golf with members of all skill levels to generate enthusiasm.
Designs and conducts golf clinics for men, women, and juniors throughout the season
Represents the club in area professional events including local, state, or national events with the approval of the Golf Committee.
Club Management and Operations
Interprets and enforces club policies, rules, and regulations.
Consults with the General Manager about golf operations and procedures.
Manages new golf member orientation program.
Daily communication with the golf course superintendent about maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course.
Interacts with the food and beverage manager about food and beverage needs for events.
Attends all staff, management, golf committee, and other applicable meetings.
Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans for improvements to the club facilities and the golf course.
Provides golf-related information for the club’s newsletter.
Attends national and sectional conferences and meetings, merchandise shows, and educational and professional shows to encourage development and to enhance the quality and image of the club.

Class A PGA Member in Good Standing
College degree preferred with a bachelor’s degree in a business-related major or Sports Management or equivalent work experience.
Five years of work experience as a Golf Professional or equivalent work experience as an Assistant Golf Professional.
The club will provide compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but not limited to:
Base Salary:
$60,000-65,000
Golf Shop Ownership:
Estimated Gross Sales of $225-250K
Club Issued $20K Revolving Line of Credit for first three years
All event prizes and favors ordered through Golf Shop with emphasis on credit for prizes
Lessons
100% of Golf Lessons - Approximately $5,000-10,000
Golf Cart Commission
10% of Golf Cart Rentals - Approximately $7,000
