ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Direct all aspects of golf course maintenance, agronomic programs, and grounds operations to provide exceptional year-round playing conditions.

• Develop and implement comprehensive turfgrass management, irrigation, drainage, and environmental stewardship programs that support the long-term health of the golf course.

• Recruit, train, lead, and develop a high-performing grounds maintenance team while fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Prepare and manage the annual grounds operating and capital budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of labor, equipment, and resources.

• Partner with the Green Committee, General Manager, Golf Professional, and Club leadership to establish agronomic priorities and execute short- and long-term course and grounds improvement initiatives.

• Oversee equipment maintenance, fleet management, and the procurement of supplies, materials, and outside services necessary to support daily operations.

• Maintain a visible presence on the golf course while communicating effectively with members and leadership regarding course conditions, projects, and maintenance practices.

• Oversee routine maintenance and readiness of tennis, pickleball, and bocce courts and their surrounding areas, including court surfaces, irrigation, drainage, nets, fencing, and adjacent landscaping.

• Lead capital improvement projects including irrigation, drainage, bunker renovations, and other course grounds enhancement initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations relating to employee safety, environmental practices, and chemical applications.

• Continuously evaluate golf course conditions and implement best management practices to enhance playability, presentation, and the overall member experience.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Including, but not limited to, the following:

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive golf course maintenance experience at a private club or high-quality daily fee facility, with Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent experience preferred.

• Proven knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, drainage, environmental stewardship, and agronomic best practices.

• Demonstrated success leading, developing, and motivating a golf course maintenance team while fostering a positive and accountable work environment.

• Experience preparing and managing operating and capital budgets, equipment, and resource allocation.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with members, club leadership, and the Green Committee.

• Valid state pesticide applicator's license (or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe).

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.

• GCSAA membership and Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) designation are preferred, but not required.
