Pittsford, NY | Monroe Golf Club is a full-service, member-owned private club located in Rochester, NY. The club was founded in 1923 and is centered around a traditional Donald Ross designed golf course. The course has long been listed as a top course in Golfweek Magazine’s Classic Course category as one of the best courses throughout Western NY in regard to both design and condition. The club has hosted numerous championships including nine Rochester District Championships, the 2000 NY State Amateur, the 2014 Wegmans LPGA Championship, and the annual Monroe Invitational which is considered one of the top amateur tournaments in the country since its inception in 1937. Past Monroe Invitational participants include Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Jason Dufner, Jim Furyk, and Jeff Sluman to name a few. Throughout the club’s 102-year history they have employed just five Head Golf Professionals and five Superintendents, which speaks to the stability and prestige of both the club and the position.
Since its inception in 1923, Monroe has been regarded as one of the premier private clubs in Upstate NY and is centered around its classic Donald Ross golf course. The course has recently completed a 5-Year Restoration by renowned Architect, Tyler Rae, and is considered to be one of the most preserved layouts of Ross’s original designs. The course is traditionally ranked as a top course in Golfweek’s Classic Course category. In addition to the golf course, the club offers a comprehensive practice facility including an expansive practice tee, short-game green for pitching and bunker play, and a beautiful 4-hole, par-3 Short Course designed by Gil Hanse in 2008. The club also offers a state-of-the-art Golf Simulator room which includes two hitting bays, lounge, and an HD Golf Simulator system with 37 championship courses and 10 practice ranges for play, practice, and lessons on a year-round basis.
The stunning clubhouse features numerous dining options and banquet rooms which provide spectacular views of the golf course and surrounding landscape. Additional amenities include a fitness center, five tennis courts (three har-tru clay and two hard), two platform tennis courts and paddle hut, and a competition size pool with adjacent playground.
Monroe is a family-friendly club with 500 total members including 345 golf members who play 26,000 rounds annually from April - October. The club offers an active golf calendar including 15 major member tournaments and 10 Monday outings per season.

Title: Head Golf Professional

Position Description: The Head Professional serves as the leader of the Golf Operations Department and reports to the General Manager/COO. The Professional oversees the performance of all golf operations and related services and is responsible for delivering an exceptional and memorable golf experience for members and their guests on a consistent basis. The successful candidate must have a highly visible presence and will be an ambassador for the club to ensure a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for the members, guests, and staff. The Professional will work closely with other Department Heads to ensure full member satisfaction throughout the club.
The Head Professional is expected to be on-site January – December with paid time to attend the PGA Merchandise Show and other industry leading meetings and conferences.
Foster a culture of excellence with the staff that is rooted in service, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Recruit, hire, train, and set performance standards for all golf operations personnel including Assistant Pros, Interns, Pro-Shop Attendants, and Club Storage staff
Provide a comprehensive instructional program for all ages and skill levels including men, women, and juniors through lessons, clinics, and innovative player development programs
Own and/or operate a Pro-Shop/Merchandising operation that features a wide range of products and services reflective of member needs (ownership of the merchandising business is negotiable)
Innovate, organize, promote, and execute first-class tournaments for all member events
Work in conjunction with the Golf Committee and General Manager/COO to develop the annual golf calendar
Ensure a first-class practice facility experience on a daily basis
Administer the golf cart fleet maintenance program
Plan and execute the golf aspects of all Monday Outings
Prepare the annual budget for the golf operations department and strive to meet or exceed department goals
Enforce all club policies that govern the use of the golf course, golf carts, practice facilities, and USGA Rules of Golf
Maintain regular communication and interaction with the General Manager/COO, Head Superintendent, Director of Food & Beverage, Director of Finance & HR, and Golf Committee Chair
Be available to play golf with members of all ages and skill levels
Serve as the representative of the club’s golf program to the wider community including representing the club in area professional events.
Closely collaborate with the Rochester District Golf Association (RDGA)

Highly visible leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with all facets of membership
Established track record of providing superior customer service through staff training, development, and mentorship programs
Highly skilled in all aspects of golf operations including tournaments, teaching, merchandising, personnel management, and playing
Experienced business acumen including annual budgets, monthly P&L statements, and payroll and expense management
Excellent marketing and promotional skills
Strong computer skills and ability to utilize golf and accounting related software and applications
Comprehensive knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf
Possess a respectable playing ability
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Five plus years of PGA Class A membership in good standing
Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience with a private club and/or high-end resort or public golf facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven financial and budget acumen including developing budgets, analyzing P&L results, maintaining costs, and meeting reporting deadlines
The club will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes but is not limited to:
Base Salary ($90-110,000 based on experience and shop ownership)
Golf Shop Income (Ownership negotiable)

Bonus Potential
Excellent benefits package
Total Compensation will be in the range of $185,000-$215,000 annually
